GSW-PHX swap; Another Amar'e prop

Post#1 » by SoCal Al » Mon Feb 9, 2009 4:22 pm

PHX would get Corey Maggette, Brandon Wright, Anthony Randolph, and a top 3 protected #1 this year.
GSW would get Amar'e Stoudemire

This deal works out a bit better for the Warriors than the Suns; because the Suns are going to struggle to maintain the 8th seed and make the playoffs w/o Amar'e. Although, their future looks better. Maggette would take over for Grant Hill, and Wright and Randolph continue to compete for minutes at the 4, which would make them a dangerous team very soon, just not this year.
Nash/Dragic
Richardson/Barbosa
Maggette/Hill/Barnes
Wright/Randolph
Shaq/Lopez

Stoudemire yearns for the run and gun style, and in Golden State, he gets just that. GSW finally gets a frontcourt scorer to match with all their backcourt fire power. Also, Biedrins doesn't demand even a fraction of a fraction of touches that Shaq does, and Turiaf makes his own offense off of the doing the dirty work, which means Amar'e gets his touches. Although admittedly, he will have to compete for shots on this shot-happy squad. Every game a shoot out.
Ellis/Watson
Crawford/Azubuike
Jackson/Azubuike
Amar'e/Turiaf
Biedrins/Turiaf

GSW is not able to protect it's 09 #1 and is probably not gonna win the bidding when Amare turns FA rather soon....so...GSW is trading their to scorer and in effect 3 consecutive LOTTO picks to Rent Amare? Not at all possible
CENSORED... No comment.

Any deal with the Warriors wouldn't be able to provide a pretty key component of Phoenix's wish list: salary relief. ICLO, they don't have a chance unless they can find a 3rd team to provide a big expiring. Also, Cliff Levingston would bet that the Suns would want to send Amare to another Western Conference team if they can help it.

Flip Maggette to Toronto for expirings (Parker + Graham). Problem solved.

Anyway, it would be tough for me to give up Wright, Randolph and a #1, but I'd probably do it if Amare would agree to a contract extension. A lineup of Ellis/Crawford/Jackson/Amare/Biedrins could really do some damage.

The suns would not take on Mag's contract.....that kills the deal right there.

in fact, I don't think there would be any team willing to touch Mag's contract. He's toxic in every GM's eyes

I'll keep the guy averaging 20/6/45%fg and I'll keep the three top-10 picks.
We're not trading for prime-Shaq here or something.

Don't you guys know the rules regarding players that need to be traded due to a division with the FO? Their value goes DOWN.
