IND/NYK

Post#1 » by smoothdave1 » Fri Apr 17, 2009 4:50 pm

Been discussed before, but with D'Antoni promising a summer shakeup and with Robinson likely leaving, how about:

IND trades: Tinsley
IND receives: Jeffries

Why for Indiana? Indiana is finally able to trade Tinsley to his hometown team where he shines and provides the Knicks with a decent 1-2 punch with he and Duhon at the point. Indiana gets an okay backup in Jeffries who is from an hour south of Indy and is the perfect backup for Granger and brings in a guy who may attract Hoosier fans.

Why for New York? New York doesn't want to take on any long term contracts but is likely losing Robinson. They also have a glut of 2's and 3's with Chandler, Danilo, Hughes, Richardson as well as Jeffries. This opens up more playing time for Danilo and Chandler next year. The contracts are nearly identical (2 more years remaining) and Jeffries also has a trade kicker. If need be, there could be a 2nd rounder and/or cash involved.

The Pacers would do it and D'Antoni could turn Tinsley into an All-Star, but Walsh will probably avoid Tinsley, so its likely the Knicks pass.
