Blazers Edge Lets Loose! (POR/OKC)

Post#1 » by JordanL » Mon Jun 8, 2009 11:27 am

Blazers Trade to Oklahoma City
Rudy Fernandez
Travis Outlaw
Steve Blake
Martell Webster

Blazers Receive from Oklahoma City
Jeff Green
Nick Collison
Earl Watson
#3 pick in 2009 draft

Courtesy of Dave at BlazersEdge.

It's an interesting idea... Blazers lose Outlaw, Webster AND Fernandez, but we get back the #3 and Green. Although we do have to take back Collison and Watson... I'm not really sure what to think about this trade.

It probably makes OKC much better, since the guys they receive fill a LOT of holes. Rudy would be an AMAZING player next to Durant.

Yikes. Pretty terrible for the Thunder. Giving up Jeff Green AND the #3 and the best young prospect they get back is Rudy? Don't gemme wrong, I love Rudy and all, but this is awful for the Thunder. At that number 3 pick, they can get a SG that's as good a prospect as Rudy (if not better) and not have to give up Green.

SG isn't a very strong spot in the draft this year, but yes I kind of agree.

The thing is that I think this trade makes them a much more complete team, and will produce a lot more wins, than keeping Green and drafting.

I think a more fair proposal for both sides would be:

Blazers Trade
Rudy Fernandez
Jerryd Bayless
Steve Blake(cut and resigns with POR)
joel przybilla

OKC trades:
Jeff Green
Nick Collison
Earl Watson
#3 pick in 2009 draft
Kyle Weaver or Thabo Selfolosha

Green for Fernandez and Webster makes sense. (maybe with Collison and 25 for Przybilla?)
Maybe down the line SG isn't a very strong spot in this draft, but there's at least Harden at #3 with a bunch of combo guards

this is pretty terrible for the Thunder every thing going to Portland is something of atleast value (Watson is an expiring)

While they are able to dump their un-wanted assets in the process? Dont lie, you guys have been wanting to trade outlaw and blake for a long time, and dont try to sugar coat it by saying it it would result in more wins, because it is just not worth it.

Replace #3 or Jeff Green with the #25 (or whatever later 1st round pick OKC has) and the deal makes some sense.
