Washington flips Mike Miller for Marcus Camby

Post#1 » by penbeast0 » Fri Jun 26, 2009 6:41 am

Mike Miller to the Clippers who need outside shooting on the wing for Marcus Camby to the Wizards who need a 5th big in case of injury (or if McGee or Blatche doesn't take a step up). Both are aging veterans with a unique skill (shotblocking/3 point shooting) who are at a position of depth on their rosters.

Clippers
Chris Kamen / D'Andre Jordan / Skinner
Blake Griffin / Zach Randolph / Novak
Al Thornton / Mike Miller
Eric Gordon / Ricky Davis / Fred Jones
Baron Davis / Mardy Collins

Wizards
Brendan Haywood / Camby / JaVale McGee
Antawn Jamison / Andre Blatche
Caron Butler / Dominique McGuire
Randy Foye / Nick Young / DeShawn Stevenson
Gil Arenas / Jarvis Crittendon / Mike James

I don't see why the Wizards do that. They have Mcgee Blatche and Haywood to play center, and Miller is better than Camby anyway.

Washington doesn't need a Camby. They need a physical banger - someone like Blair. But they preferred to have $2.5 million rather than improving the team. San Antonio should send us Christmas cards.

I love 3 point shooters as much as anyone and Miller last year was an excellent distributor but unless we deal some of our surplus shooters at the 2 and 3, we waste a lot of talent. Camby gives us insurance against an injury to our thin bigs and I think he's better trade value than Miller if someone else gets an injury. I do think it helps both teams in terms of depth.

Add me to this list.

Before I opened the thread I thought it was actually just completed and I was thinking, why the hell did Washington do this?

On my list of SF's the Clippers need I have:

1. Shane Battier
2. Gerald Wallace
3. Tayshun Prince
4. Shawn Marion
5. Mike Miller

We would be willing to offer either Camby or Kaman as a trade.
Hopefully if my top choices are not available we can hone in on Mike Miller. He would be a great fit.

I don't know if the first 4 players are withing logical striking distance for the Clippers, but Mike Miller is doable.

I doubt the Wiz move him for Camby though because they already have Haywood and McGee. Maybe a 3 way that sends Camby to someone else, with Mike Miller to the Clippers.

The Wizards reject this deal. We need Miller more than we need Camby. And Penbeast, the Wiz don't have any surplus shooters. Miller is really the only one. Dmac can't shoot, Young is inconsistent, and Stevenson couldn't hit the backside of a barn last season.

Yeah, the Wizards need Miller's talents more than Camby's. Haywood is going into his contract year. He'll want to be on the court as much as possible. Jamison will get his minutes and Blatche and McGee will back up. Miller will open up the court for Gil and Caron and it's more likely that the Wizards re-sign Miller next season than re-up Camby. I see no interest from the Wizards here.
