NY/IND Lee, Curry, Ford...all the good stuff

Post#1 » by eitanr » Fri Jun 26, 2009 1:53 pm

Interesting idea over here.

The Pacers want to deal TJ Ford and did just draft a PF at 13. Truth is as nice as Hansborough may be for the franchise, the Pacers still shouldn't be too keen or set with their future 4 slot.

The Knicks did just land Jordan Hill in the draft. Fans were skeptical and upset, but a Hill pick may mean Lee is going to go somewhere, possibly in a sign and trade. NYK will hope to attach Jeffries, but more so Curry in a deal involving Lee.

What do both fans think of this potential deal:

David Lee (S&T), Eddy Curry for TJ Ford, Marquis Daniels (expiring), and Travis Diener (expiring)

NYK gets their PG and unloads a nasty contract...this is probably followed by dealing Nate Robinson in a S&T with Jeffries somewhere, most likely to Sacramento for Kenny Thomas.
PF D. Gallinari/ K. Thomas
SF W. Chandler/ A. Harrington
C J. Hill/ D. Milcic
SG L. Hughes/ M. Daniels
PG TJ Ford/ C. Duhon/ T. Diener

Indy will re-sign Jarret Jack but would be missing a backup PG. Perhaps they can either reunite matters with Tinlsey or get another backup PG for slighly cheap (or in a deal for Jeff Foster)...there could be a plethora of PGs for cheap available if need be so it shouldn't be a concern. Indy gets a PF that can really help the franchise and have a nice unit that should be closer to Playoff conention.
PF D. Lee/ T. Hansborough/ E. Curry
SF D. Granger/ S. Williams
C T. Murphy/ R. Hibbert/ J. Foster
SG B. Rush/ M. Dunleavy JR
PG J. Jack/ J. Tinsley

The Pacers will release Daniels in order to sign Jack, otherwise they risk paying 3-4 million in luxury taxes.

The Pacers simply cannot afford this.

Eddy Curry? Yikes.

soon-to-be-overpaid-david-lee having to split time with already-overpaid-troy-murphy? Yikes.

Having a backcourt composed entirely of Jack, Tinsley, Rush and Dunleavy? Yikes.

Do you seriously have Shawne Williams in the depth chart?

Pacers cannot hold onto Daniels to trade him and are letting him walk. Diener is a solid emergency PG. We have our David Lee type PF in Hansbrough now, and we need to just let Tyler play.

Curry isn't allowed anywhere near the roster. Thus, there's absolutely nothing here for Indy to trade for.

Sorry. NY is going to have to pawn Curry off for expirings on someone else.

eitanr, your one of the more realistic posters here, but this is one of the worst thought out trades I've seen in a while. To start, we just draft Tyler Hansbrough, why in the world would we want David Lee and Eddy Curry when we have Murphy and Hansbrough. After that, the Pacers won't go near Curry, he is a PR nightmare. To top it all off, we trade Ford and Diener, forcing Tinsley back onto the team, why would we do that? This trade is just bad on so many levels for Indiana, theres no way to justify it.

Knicks say no. They need to save those gems for the Ricky Rubio trade.

This killed me, it's exactly what I was thinking.
