Raptors Fix Defense: Raptors/Memphis & Raptors/Rockets

Post#1 » by Rapsobsessed7 » Fri Dec 4, 2009 4:05 am

Raptors Trade:
Calderon
O'Bryant

Memphis Trades:
Conley
Hunter

Raptors get a PG thats young and plays better defense, they dont need scoring but this would vastly improve their team.

Memphis pairs Jose with Marc and get a good shooter beside Mayo

Calderon/Tinsley/Williams
Mayo/Jaric
Gay/Young/Carroll
Randolph/Arthur/Haddai
Gasol/Thabeet/O'Bryant

Then: (or they could just do this trade)

Raptors Trade:
Amir Johnson
Antonie Wright
2010 Second Round Pick: Toronto
2010 Second Round Pick: Clippers (heavily protected)

Houston Trades:
Battier

Raptors get one of the best perimeter defenders that means no more manu, wade, kobe, mayo, richardson, allen having career games against us.

Houston can afford 2 max contracts with getting rid of Battier and get a very good big man in Amir whos shown great promise.

Raptors use Hunter until Evans is ready and they improve their team.

Conley/Jack/Banks
Battier/Belinelli/Weems
Hedo/Derozan/Pops
Bosh/Hunter/Evans(injured)
Bargnani/Rasho

Saves the raptors money in 2010 with Jose vs Conleys contract and Battier/Banks/Evans makes for some great expiring contracts in 2011. Overall improved defense, if the wings can keep their man in front of them our defense will be better. Bosh/Bargnani can hold their own man to man. Hedo is the only weak spot but its improved without trading Bargnani or Bosh and adding Conley to our core. Conley,Derozan,Bosh,Bargnani become the future.

I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

I'd still say the Raps would be terrible defensively until Bargnani gets moved. His help defense is absolutely horrible and although Conley can help some of that, you still have guys like Parker and Rondo in the league.

I would do this trade, but definitely still have problems in the front court. We desperately need a big defensive minded center.

Neither Memphis nor Houston makes these trade. Terrible value in both deals.

QFT.

The tricky thing about trades is that both teams need to agree to make them. This won't happen here.

Also, trading Battier away won't give the Rockets the ability to go after two Max Contract players. It may give them the ability to go after one, but that one could likely be a guy on the Raptors roster, so why would they help them do that? ;)

What would you want for Battier thats the trade the Raptors need to make. Amir+Wright+Seconds is all we can offer and i think thats a good deal. Amir is playing great hes only 23 and Wright is only 25.

Trevor Ariza $6,322,320
David Andersen $2,500,000
Aaron Brooks $2,016,692
Carl Landry $3,000,000 (Team option and would pick him up, over Hayes)
Chase Budinger $780,871
Jermaine Taylor $780,871
= 15,400,754

+ 2010 1st Rounder

* Would need to resign Scola to around 6-10 million (ill say 8 because its inbetween)
= 23,400,754

The projected cap would be about 52 million
= about 28,599,246 in cap space

a max contract is 30% of 52 is about 15.6 million per season. Now assuming you can work it with yao to backload his contract you can afford 2 max contracts. Also if not you can get Yao + a second tier star and still have a very good team. It depends the cap, it depends on what Scola would get and who you draft and if you would want to resign Amir which i suppose you would want to.

Calderon/Jack/Banks
Battier/Belinelli/Weems
Hedo/Derozan
Bosh/Evans/Pops
Bargnani/Rasho/O'Byrant

Solid team.
