I think the kings will have max capspace unless they get one of the top two picks. Then they would have just below max money.

I think they have a lot, but not MAX.

Minnesota having all those 1st rounders hurts their offseason cap space....

No idea of course, but I haven't heard any sports journalist go that low with their guess.

53 has been batted around.

True, as does Rubio's cap hold. I've estimated the picks, and not keeping Gomes, to limit MIN to $12.8 mil. However, there's tons of variability between now and free agency.

1. The CHA pick "bobs" between being protected, or unprotected every day. No pick adds $1.3 mil in cap space.

2. I've estimated the #2 worst spot in the draft has an expected value of the #3 spot in the lottery. The #5 pick adds $0.6 mil in cap space, the #1 pick happily removes about $0.8 mil

3. A late season trade could alter the number slightly. MIN did this last year in June with Foye/Miller, but keep in mind expiring deals can't be included. Savings at this point would be from cap match, partially guaranteed deals, or TPE's.

4. A post draft trade could happen as well. I think its quite possible that a team that sacrificed to get cap space, then misses out on the elite free agents, could try to save their summer by offering cap space + incentive for Al Jefferson.

5. If Pekovic comes over, MIN has to have the money to pay him.

6. The addition and subtraction will affect the minimum cap holds.

7. I used an estimate of $53.6, which matches TrueHoop's Kevin Arnovitz and our own wyn. If the number is higher, so is MIN's cap space.

This is probably more than you wanted to know, but I wanted to explain it in a little detail to demonstrate how its difficult at this point to determine if a team on the borderline really has max deal cap space. I suppose I could have gone with "let's wait and see."

I think the teams that will have Max cap or more are:
NY
Miami
NJ
LAC
Chicago
Washington
Sacramento

These guys will have more than MLE but less than Max.
Minny
OKC

Memphis - not sure if they don't keep Gay how much they have.

And, pretty much these guys have max space too, to keep their Max FAs
Toronto
Atlanta
Cleveland
Phoenix

I believe as long as the cap exceeds 51 million the Bulls do.

Wow that would suck, I thought the cap would be near 58 mil.

52-53 was the common expectation for as long as I can remember, but I think recently the expectations have gone up a bit to the ballpark of 54. But obviously it’s all speculation at this point.
