Denver/Miami/Boston Deal

Post#1 » by ClubLakers KB8 » Wed Mar 31, 2010 10:09 pm

Denver Trades - Kenyon Martin (16,802,704), Renaldo Balkman (1,546,560), and Ty Lawson (1,546,560)
Denver Receives: Kevin Garnett (18,832,044)

Boston Trades: Kevin Garnett (18,832,044)
Boston Receives: Kenyton Martin (16,802,704), Renaldo Balkman (1,546,560), Miami's 2010 1st round pick

Miami Trades: 2010 1st round pick
Miami Receives: Ty Lawson (1,546,560)

--------------------

Boston saves 20 million in cash and gets a pick near 14-16, Denver looks to make a SERIOUS run by getting Garnett on that team (Nene, KG, Melo, and Billups could be lethal), and the HEAT get their PG.

The Nuggets take advantages of their window, the Celtics realize it's time to move on, and the HEAT are there simply to help both sides out.

Thoughts?

Hell no from Denver. Kmarts contract is finally over after next season, we (along with just about every other team in the league) want nothing to do with KGs contract. I don't know if I'd trade Kenyon for Garnett alone at this point, add in Lawson for nothing and Denver hangs up the phone.

Yeah, this is bad for Denver and you have them adding the value?

Easy no.

KG isn't as washed up as you guys think. He's still a far superior talent than K-Mart.

This is a trade that aims for a title. Currently constructed, that Nuggets team isn't doing anything.

My opinion, of course.

All the Nuggets were missing this year, was a coach who wouldn't overplay Kmart. Guy was playing injured and is now hurt worse. If Denver had a coach who would have tried to keep Kmart well, and with Lawson back, they would be constructed to be able to win a title.

I like for MIA, easy yes

As for Denver, I'd expect them to say yes (maybe need a pick going to them), and BOS to say no (I don't see them rebuilding yet)

Expect them to say yes? No way.

Take out Ty, remove Miami, add in Perkins and Denver still may not say yes.

Garnett isn't getting any younger and has two years left on his deal, 18.8 and 21.2. That's a lot to risk, especially with the CBA possibly changing.

I'd say at this point....Martin and Garnett provide similar impact on the game. Defense, rebounding, INTENSITY!!!, and decent offense. Both are old and injury prone.

So as crazy as it does sound, it's a tossup between the two for me. That said, the contract gives the edge to Kenyon. Throwing in Lawson makes the no a "hell no," as RRFB has said.

So you take away two of their core players for one who is clearly on a steep decline? There's almost no benefit from Denver's perspective.

I think Denver would say yes if Perkins was involved? Then again Boston would need a little more here than simply Lawson + K-Mart. New Orleans and seeking Mr. Collison in a deal may be a better route for Boston considering the Hornets want the fan fare and also would like to get back into playoff contention.

The question is, is Ty Lawson better than the Heat's '10 pick?
For the Heat, I think it will depend who's available at their pick.

Like the many people above me, HELL NO from Denver. Coming off the injury, maybe I'd trade Kmart for Garnett but with Lawson this becomes an easy no.
