Just weird to set a decide date so soon after initial offers are supposedly presented. Wouldn't allow much time to haggle the offer.

he should be happy to get an un-guaranteed one year contract from any NBA team -

Why be happy with a non-gauranteed, one-year deal if you're in position to leverage more?

Really? Just bored. :D

And an appropriately incoherent response. What's your primary language?

English, but in fairness it is the third language I know. ( English, French, Creole and Spanish)
I am hyper-active maybe that is why it came out like that.
I did not notice the lack of cohesion until this afternoon.
It's cool, lol.

With this Friday decision looming, my prediction is we buckled and gave him the full mle, but protected our cap future with a team option next year. The drawn out game was to get us to blink or match an actual mle, and one of those must have happened. But, if this happens, I would guess almost immediately afterwards we will see Joel traded to Philly for their returned conditional first rounder plus $3M cash, keeping us tax neutral more or less. Then we wrap up the off season with Mo if he takes the vet min.

If what ur saying is the case, I would be fine with it, a little over his value as a player, but tbh there arent anyone left to give the mmle to anyway. Only think is the luxury cap hit, and thats Micky Arison who has to pay that. The team option is big, we need that cap space next year. But who knows, maybe he chose some other team. I realllllly hope his decision is ACTUALLY tmro. Ive heard all 7 days of the week from "media sources". First it was monday or tuesday. Then Wednesday or Thursday. Then the Weekend. Now they finally got the whole week in with Friday. Please let this end...tmro...

Anything we could offer him has zero chance of crippling us financially. I don't care, just get him signed.

Good analysis and that would be an almost ideal summer upgrading for me. Last 2 spots for the most promising young guys - Ennis, Varnado or whoever. Could send them to D-league if needed.

Not ture.

Pretty sure We had no problem giving him MLE money if it's just for this year. But our front office understand that we need to save evey $ under the cap available for next summer when we'll need to re-sgin the big 3 AND re-tool around them. Problem is, Oden proably wanted guaranteed money for next season too. We'll see soon enough who blinked first.

He hasn't proven he can play even one full season in the NBA. I agree that his agent is doing a fantastic job selling his potential though

That was PO picking up the option for the last year of his deal. Nothing the agent negotiated.

I wondered if this Friday thing wasn't related to Oden's camp giving the Heat a deadline to match NO's offer, or at least raise it above the minimum, essentially playing a game of chicken.

I doubt anyone would insure him this upcoming season.

does he still have those muscle imbalances?

If he doesn't, offering the full exception is a no-brainer IMO.

Hell, i'd offer it anyway. It won't cripple the team financially.

Does Riley fast track a press conference for tomorrow or wait until Monday?

I want to ride your confidence's coattails.

Been actually wondering if we'd have a PC for Greg. Wouldn't be surprised if they'd skip it, in part to avoid heightened expectations.

ESPN

Former No. 1 overall pick Greg Oden plans to choose his new team Friday, according to sources close to the situation.

Sources told ESPN.com that Oden, after showing off his skills for several teams over the past few weeks, has not yet ruled out any of the six teams chasing him but is most likely to select his destination from the trio of Miami, San Antonio and Dallas.

New Orleans, Sacramento and Atlanta are the other known suitors for Oden. One source close to the process said Thursday night that the Pelicans, from that group, are the only other team still "in the mix."

Every team from the final six but Dallas sent a representative to Indianapolis last week to watch Oden work out, with multiple witnesses telling ESPN.com later that Oden has noticeably slimmed down and is moving well more than a year removed from his last microfracture knee surgery.

Sources said all six of the teams in the Oden chase then presented offers early this week that not only detailed financial specifics but also each club's medical plans for overseeing the 25-year-old Oden's ongoing recovery from a multitude of knee problems.

Oden hasn't played in an NBA game since Dec. 5, 2009, and underwent his third career microfracture surgery as recently as February 2012. He was selected No. 1 overall by Portland in 2007 but has played in just 82 career NBA games thanks to injury woes. In 21 games in 2009-10, Oden averaged 11.1 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game before succumbing to injury again.

Sources said Cleveland, Boston and Memphis all expressed interest in Oden in addition to the six finalists, but those three teams declined to make a formal offer.

Miami long has been considered the favorite to land Oden by a number of rival teams because of the championship environment it offers and the fact that Heat president Pat Riley has been personally recruiting Oden since before the end of the 2012-13 regular season. Yet it remains to be seen whether Oden opts to join a team farther away from the spotlight to lessen the pressure as he makes his return.

So soon after Skolnick's and Spears' sources apparently indicate to them it's down to Miami and New Orleans. At least we're the constant? Dallas has all 15 spots signed currently. Haven't looked at their roster, but I wonder who they'd cut if Greg chose them.
