If we manage to get a top 10 pick we're far more likely to draft Antonio Daniels than Tim Duncan. Lottery picks guarantee nothing. I'd rather be mediocre and make a big signing in 2016 than fall apart like the Cavs after LeBron left.

Well..that falling apart got yhe cavs lebeta and love.Picks are valuable

Nearly everything possible has gone wrong yet HEAT still just 3.5 games out of the 4th seed.

when we were 10-12, I thought we can still get 50 wins... just have to go 40-20 the rest of the way. With all the injuries, keeping winning 2 and losing 1, it can happen lol.

a lot of **** will have to go our way tho.

if not we are destined for 6th seed

They also needed incredible lottery luck and sucked hard for four years. The only really good player they got out of the draft is Irving since we don't know what'll become of Wiggins yet. The only reason they were able to acquire Love in exchange for Wiggins and Bennett is because the Wolves' hand was forced. LeBron was most likely headed back to repair his image anyways.

Speaking of the Wolves, they've been tanking for years, ever since the Garnett trade to be precise and it hasn't gotten them anywhere other than Love leaving as well. Sure, other factors played a role there too but it doesn't take away from the fact that the draft is a crap shoot. I'd rather be an organization with the drive to be competitive every year than an organization that willingly loses in the hopes of landing a guy that'll save them.

If we strike out in 2016 and Wade has retired by then and Bosh isn't a young man anymore, then sure, we can tank. If both Wade and Bosh suffer long-term injurues in the same season, then we can tank as well. But as long as we have a competitive team, I wanna compete, no matter how little the chances of winning a title are. People forget that we have been one of the unluckiest teams in terms of injuries so far this season and we're still more than in there. It's frustrating at times but it's a hell of a lot better than being a Lakers, Knicks, Sixers or Pistons fan, losing game after game, hoping the draft will save my franchise.

What about trying to get Melo from NY. They could be looking to restart that and Melo and Wade are still close and could form a BIG 3 here.

Melo for Deng, UD(Buyout), Shabazz, Mario

NY gets rid of the big contract and can start new. We get another scorer.

Would be nice... but doubt Melo is going anywhere, especially with that contract and the fact that he didn't choose a legitimate contender team (bulls, if he joined) and picked the Knicks instead.

Also I think they do have a lot of cap space coming up (2016?) So he probably will stay put.

I would like to do a trade for Isaiah Thomas, underrated offensive player who can score in bunches in a good to great TS%. He has a great contract for his talent as well (7 mil a year) and our point guards kinda suck. I just want some excitement..

That sounds great to me. And how do you suppose tricking Phoenix into giving us Isaiah Thomas for a pile of hot garbage with not-so-great contracts we have? :)

Well yeah, that's the problem... we will need someone else to be in the trade to give them a big man, their 3 point guard "strategy" isn't working at all so they should be looking for a trade. They are even smaller than us...

Phoenix actually was trying to sign Deng hard during the off season. Maybe they will take him. Problem still lies with Thomas's contract as it interferes with 2016. We also need to be focusing more on big men with very few little assets we have. Our best bet is still trying to go all out for Monroe, Jennings, and Singler for Deng, Chalmers, Williams, and 2017 1st round pick. The Beauty about this deal is all contracts are off the books in 2016 for both sides and Detroit gets there 1st round pick compensation. By 2017 with our projected 2016 Free Agent over haul lets hope that 2017 pick is nothing but a garbage late round selection.

Projected Lineup after deal

C Greg Monroe-Chris Anderson-Hassan Whiteside
PF Chris Bosh-Justin Hamilton-Udonis Haslem (Josh McRoberts)
SF Kyle Singler-James Ennis
SG Dwyane Wade-Andre Dawkins
PG Brandon Jennings-Norris Cole-Shabazz Napier

On January 15th then we could deal Birdman and Cole for a two guard.

Okay so you talk about big men, then want a trade for the awful Brandon Jennings, Monroe who plays zero defense and isn't that good offensively to make up for it either, and the below average Kyle Singler? I just don't see why you would want that.
