Since it's early in the season, just once I'd like to se this staff refine and take advantage of a Center's gifts instead of FORCING or spending so much time converting them into a HEAT CENTER. If Zo is available, is it at all possible for him to work with this guy instead of just being a mouth piece or other admin personnel for the organization?

Is it too much to ask so early in the season......?

all I know is Centers like Deandre Jordon, Roy Hibbert and even Jermain Oneil back in the day took a long time and a lot of playing time and patience before they were able to be good players. We want a serviceable center without putting in the game time and patience then thats not going to happen. I want this team to make a better effort getting the young bigs Hamilton and Whiteside some pt and getting them involved. This is when we should be figuring it out then make more hardcore decisions after allstar break.

Hoping this was shot at end of practice and he was just tired.

His interview provides me some optimism, he doesn't seem like a complete idiot and he seems focuses and committed.

J-Ham made a noticeable physical jump since he started working with our staff, if Whiteside is ready to work hard he can improve too, difference is his physical potential is much higher.

I see that too... I'm hoping it's just that extra muscle he's put on, but I'm just not sure. Even if he is slow, I'm more interested in seeing if he knows how to use his length to his advantage.

While I had to replay that multiple times just to get a read on the foot speed, I'd hate to render a judgment based off of a single play. Let's see how he is during scrimmages and actual gameplay before burning the barn.

Yeah, I still have hope for him. I've wanted him sine 2010. Also, in an actual game, it's not too often that someone in the post can start on one side and finish on the other side without someone helping so I had that in mind.

And maybe they were doing drills to end practice, when nobody goes hard.

You guys are forgetting the biggest factor - J-Ham is a beast that can't be stopped!

He is much slower now and bigger post injury. I think his best playing weight is somewhere inbetween what he is now and what he was. He needs to move faster and get his stroke back since his knee injuy. Looking how Heat slimmed down JHam i intrigued to see what Whiteside might look like in a few months.

Im sure Keith Smart has a lot to do with the callup of Whiteside since he used to work with him daily in Sacramento.

That's a very interesting connection you just made, there. Makes sense. He really was there with him in Sacramento. That might explain why Miami threw an extra year at him, very much how they did with White #7.

Just for tonight Spoelstra, could you allow at least 10 minutes of Hassan "AK-47" Whiteside against the New York Knicks?

He's gotta earn it. On top of that, there needs to be a major blowout. Hopefully it's in Miami's favor. Even then, that doesn't guarantee Whiteside sees the floor.

It's not going to happen. Last 2 pages I wrote the timeline of when Birdman joined

Even he did not get immediate play time. He did get playtime in blowouts though

But its going to take maybe even 2 weeks for him to crack the rotation.

Unless... we get injuries

...Not only did the Heat call up Whiteside from the NBA Development League last week, but they did it as part of a two-year package that included a $100,000 guarantee and conditional guarantees for 2015-16....

..."I'm really happy that they chose to make a commitment and I'm all-in," Whiteside said in advance of Monday's game against the Washington Wizards at the Verizon Center. "Like I said, I 100 percent believe in their organization. I mean, if Pat Riley tells me to run to the airport, I'm going to run to the airport. That's how much confidence I have in this."...

...For Whiteside, the guarantee eases the wait until Jan. 10, when all NBA contracts become guaranteed for the balance of the season.

"I believe they see something in me," the 2010 Sacramento Kings draft pick said. "So it's a good organization just to be a part of."...

Hassan Whiteside: watching him play against Washington was a desperately needed fresh air for the Miami Heat.
