Should we tank this year, try to lose as much as possible and get the highest pick possible?

Yes, the timing is right, it's the smart logical move.

Will you join the Tank ride of 2014-2015? **POLL**

Post#1 » by RexBoyWonder » Mon Dec 15, 2014 9:28 pm

With Mcbob out for the season (And Bosh out for god knows how long with a calf injury), not only am I staying on the Tank, I'm ordering a Tank Commando hat tomorrow from Heat.com

This all year has been one big bad funk, including a bad offseason and a bad start to the season, injuries, outdated strategies, old rotation and crappy energy.

Like most **** moments, This moment is also an opportunity.

An opportunity to finally get young,
An opportunity to finally go big,
An opportunity to add a young stud in the draft after years of **** drafting.

Let's do this.

PS - for those not aware - our draft pick is top 10 protected. We only keep it if it's in the 1-10 range. If it's lower - Sixers get it.

If it wasnt in the hands of another team I would be apart of it

But with our luck we would get the 11th pick and get nothing

Heck we got too many wins already too. Would have to go on a 50 game losing streak lmao

Everything here is wrong.

It's totally in out hands,
It has very little to do with luck,
And we don't have too many wins at all.

Sure, would rather tank than be the 8th seed and get destroyed by the Bulls tbh.

Tank as in try to lose games to get a great pick I do not support. We dont need help losing we have been doing a great job at that going back to last year with the system we keep trying to force.

I do support using this period as an opportunity to play the young guys significant minutes and try to identify and maximize your assets going forward.

Only if Bosh is out for a extended amount of time. I am in favor of trading Deng and others right away though.

I'm not in favor of doing something like Philly, but I am in full favor of giving young guys extended run. We need to get as many young assets as possible IMO, and focus primarily on player development of the youth.

You are essentially borrowing against the future. The draft pick must be paid one way or another. Once it's paid then you don't have to play the 11/10 game that you might lose. Remember others are trying to keep inside the lottery and you cannot control all the results.

Also, as I've said many times, tanking has been shown to not have the intended result again and again. Look at any NBA roster and you see good players selected all over the draft. Look at the history of drafts and you see dud lottery picks.

Tanking is not only beneath us as a franchise. It is a BAD strategy.

We're in dangerous territory though, being middle of the pack and having not enough young assets. It's like no mans land. I'm only in favor of this strategy if Bosh's health is an issue, cause I think we're relying too much on him since he has no frontcourt help. He's like Dirk, could you imagine Dirk by himself playing small ball with no froncourt help for boards and defense? Obviously Bosh is better defensively but the boards and rim protection aren't great areas for him since he's stretch 4.

I'm actually embarrassed to be part of a group with a "Tank Ride" poll. We look like the freaking Magic or 76ers now. Thanks for nothing.

FYI, we'd have to be the 8th worst team or below in the league to guarantee a top 10 pick in the current lottery system.

Bosh is injured, Wade can take it easy till next year. Not a big deal. It's not a 5 years Sixers type of tank.

Plus it's not like we were beating everyone with Bosh and Wade playing. We're bad right and WE'RE REALLY TRYING HARD STILL.

I guess most would rather be a fringe playoff team with washed up vets, than to get some young talent and build from with-in. I'm telling you guys, this is the right thing to do. Bosh and a 35 yo Wade aren't going to attract top players in 2016.
