I think contract's point is that Wade, at his possibly absolute best, wasn't surrounded by a contender and able to gun for titles while possibly winning MVPs and Finals MVPs. From 2011/2012 on, he was in a steady decline, mostly due to health problems but also because of declining athleticism and as such, he was more of an after-thought to most people when it comes to our titles. So for Wade personally, it wasn't the ideal scenario.

However, you have to take into account that a lot of top players don't even get a chance at a title and their reputation suffers even more. Melo is a great player, but will go down as a career failure because of his team's failures. The same goes for T-Mac, who, injuries aside, was one of the best two guards to ever play the game. Vince Carter is now hopping from contender to contender in search of a ring, having never won a title even while still being the All-Star Wade so clearly was when we won in 2012 and 2013. Let's also not forget that we opened the door for Wade to win a title in his early prime and have one of the best Finals series of all-time.
Kevin Durant could go down as a top-5/10 player of all-time and never win a ring. Dwight Howard is a great center and still hasn't won a title.

The sacrifice Wade made in those two years is nothing compared to the price of winning two more titles. Wade of all people also cherished that. I can see that it wasn't always fun for him, but ask him and he'd tell you he'd rather win those rings than put up better numbers but get eliminated with a weaker cast.

Ultimately, basketball is a team sport and the successes you value the most are the ones accomplished with a team. Championship teams and players are the ones that are being remembered the most after all.

Exactly. It's not like Riley asked Wade to take a backseat to LeBron. Wade sacrificed his ego, shots, etc. to LeBron himself.

And Wade has had it pretty damn good anyways. Rookie year he was on a playoff team that went to the second round. Was competing at the highest level in just his second year in the league. And we know what happened his third year.

To say Riley and the Heat wasted valuable years of Wade's prime (although which can be somewhat true of 2008-09 and 2009-10) is to ignore the years Wade has been not only in the playoffs, but deep into the playoffs.

As said earlier, compared to guys like T-Mac, Melo, VC, and AI; Wade has been more than well off.
