I say let them hack him. I'm confident that he's capable of being a 65%+ guy but even on the low end if he can just hit 1/2 every time the strategy doesn't make much sense. If he gets his season average up to about 60% the strategy just becomes foolish. People will try it because they'll attempt to gamble on the fact that he'll shoot below his averages but at the end of the day I think that Hassan will be more than fine.

I've said this time and again he isn't Drummond or DeAndre Jordan. He's a much better FT shooter than those guys he just needs to prove it consistently to scare teams off of the strategy which I think he'll do soon enough.

Yup, so does Zo, Mutombo, Wade...

If your Center never gets dunked on - he's not trying hard enough.

Every elite shot blocker gets posterized at times, because they go after everybody and anybody at any opportunity.

See Zo, Dikembe Mutombo.

Greatside is on pace to have one the best shot blocking seasons of all time if he can keep this up.

Preaching to the choir...

Knicks fan I come in peace. Was Whiteside this good of a rim protector last year? Or might this be a contract year thing?

Also him being unrestricted this offseason how do you plan on paying him with Wade's cap hold there?

Thanks

Oh yeah he was always this good. The big thing with him last year was stamina. He wasn't in the best shape when he joined the team and in a lot of games his activity would start off strong but then it'd start to taper off which is part of the reason why he only played 23mpg last year.

This offseason though he worked hard on his conditioning and got his body fat down to about 6% I believe. He's closer to 30mpg thus far and the results are showing with his 4.8blks per game.

As far as paying him, we'll have about $42mill in space next year. Wade's cap hold is $29mill so either you sign him first or you relinquish his bird rights. With that said even in a scenario where he gets another $20mill deal (which I seriously doubt). We'd have $22mill left for Whiteside's max.

Man what a frustrating game this must have been for Whiteside, lopez was leaning on him, pulling on and him and cheating him in every way possible on every possession.

Tough game, man our bench is something this year.

Yeah Robin did all the tricks to contain him....He even tried to get into Whiteside's head....
Im pretty surprised on Whiteside's temper control...Feels like he took some notes from Martin Lawrence woosah - from the movie Bad Boys 2...

is he one of the most consistent players? (I think so.) did he have bad games? (ok, it's easier for him, because he's not a shooter.)

he was 1/6 vs NY, but still had 14 rebounds (including 5 offensive) and 6 blocks. (I've seen only the blocks on YT.)

please write about this game.

He was going through a stomach flu. He was questionable to even play that game.

Drummond is heavier and physically stronger than Whiteside. He can displace Whiteside out of position if Whiteside is ever off balance. The team made the mistake of leaving Hassan on an island against Drummond, that's not how we play defense and that is not the strong point of Hassan's game. Drummond is a brilliant rebounder and he made that apparent against Hassan.
