Bruins Off-Season

Still on a high that Boston won the cup, it's time to re-tool for next season.

We have two key UFA's that will be out there on the market
-Tomas Kaberle
-Michael Ryder

If we can only keep one, I'd rather keep Kaberle. He was solid, not good, not great, not bad, but solid for us since we got him at the trading deadline. I think with a full off-season and training camp under his belt, he could come back and have a great year like he's capable of doing. But he will for sure test the market.

As for Ryder, I wouldn't mind keeping him either. He was great in the playoffs, really showed up and helped us win the cup. He too could be looking for a bigger contract though. With the cap floor being in place, I could see some bottom feeder team who needs to reach it offering a guy like Ryder a nice chunk of change which he would take and run.

We have one key retirement
-Mark Recchi

It's gonna be tough to replace what Recchi has done for this team the past couple seasons.

We have one key RFA
-Brad Marchand

We really need to get this guy locked up long term.

UFA's we could target
-Christian Ehrhoff
-James Wisniewski
-Ville Leino
-Ed Jovanovski
-Bryan McCabe

So who do you want the B's to get or re-sign?

In a Boston war room w/a big board of available players in front of him working phones RT @BobInLakeville: Haggs, any word on P.C. location?

Not a big deal, but

Bruins re-sign Trent Whitfield

Boston signs Trent Whitfield to a two-way contract for two years worth 575,000 per year.

Crazy money flying around.

Thankfully Chia re-signed Chara and Bergy before they hit the open market this summer.

Bruins lose Ryder to the Dallas Stars. Well, it was a really up and down career here for him. When he was signed not many were pleased. That was the off-season we were going after Hossa, and came back with Ryder. But he played most games and was a solid contributor for 4 years. I loved how he stepped up so much for the Bruins in the playoffs, hopefully Boston fans remember him for that.

Bruins sign another former Canadian Benoit Pouliot. I don't know much on this player other than he was scratched in the playoffs.

Well, not the ideal day I wanted, but as long as we are able to re-sign Kaberle than I'm happy with the bruins choices.

Boston Bruins lose Tomas Kaberle to the Carolina Hurricanes.

They quickly trade for Hurricanes d-man Joe Corvo.

Sucks to see Kaberle gone. Hopefully the addition of Corvo works.

So just to be clear

Out: Ryder, Kaberle

In: Pouliot, Corvo

Very underwhelming off-season. Lets take this money that we saved and lock up our key rfa's for this and next year. Marchand, Krecji, Rask....

Corvo isn't soft which is a good thing. I always thought Ryder and Kaberle were lacking in that area. I'm not all that impressed with the Pouliot pick-up.

I would have liked to have kept Ryder and Kaberle at the end of the day.

Corvo's going to a be a good fit with you guys. He'll provide some firepower from the point and like KGboss said he's not soft.

Savard is out for next season as well, it was reported today. Very sad to hear, I think it'd be best for him to retire.

Brad Marchand has been re-signed. 2 years.

I love it. The guy is awesome! One of the best players in game 7 of the Stanley Cup.

5 million over 2 years is a steal for Marchand. Great work by the Boston front office.
