2013 Season

Well, we start off the season with a whimper. A 5=1 loss at Florida. Ward got shelled early for 4 goals in the 1st and did not last long. Just a bad start to a short season.

Home opener is a loss to Florida 4 - 1. This is starting off very bad for the Canes.

0-2 Canes taking on the 2-0 Sabres. Canes start strong with Skinner's 2nd goal of the season and give Cam Ward a 2-0 lead. And then in 2 minutes, he gives up 2 goals to tie. Cam needs to get things going as he has really stunk up the joint so far. This game is a need to win game. Cannot get too far behind in a shortened season.

Thank God for Skinner! Gets his 2nd goal of the night and 3rd of the season and Canes up 4-2. Cam needs to hold this lead and get this victory tonight!

Canes win 6-3. Skinner had 2 goals and Eric Staal had a Hat Trick.

Canes get to .500 with a 3-1 win over the Sabres to sweep the home-home. Skinner gets his 4th goal in the 4th game of the season. Ellis was goaltending tonight and stopped 40 of 41 shots. Great job!

Bruins come to town and already kicking Cam Ward's butt. 2-0 with only 8 minutes played in the 1st. Bad night.

3-3 after 2nd period. Skinner has his 5th goal of the season, and has a goal in 4 straight games.

Boston gets the go ahead goal with 1:50 left. Crap!

Canes with a huge 1-0 win over Ottawa. Ellis with 33 saves on 33 shots. This coming off his stopping 40/41 a few games ago. Coming up big. Good win before long road trip.

Canes get back to .500 with a strong 4-1 win over Toronto. Skinner with 3 Assists in front of the home crowd.

Now the Canes are over .500 after a tough OT win in Ottawa 3-2. Team is starting to gel. That is two wins in 6 days over a tough Ottawa club.

Canes lost in OT the other night, but bounce back with a 6-4 win over hte NYI. Doing alright so far on this road trip.

Cam let the Canes down tonight. Gave up 3 goals and the Canes answered each time. But when he gave up #4, too late to match it. Cam is a weak link right now. He won us the Cup a few years ago with brilliant work at the net. But he is really hurting this team right now.

Skinner misses another game with concussion, and team just is not the same. Loss at home to Tampa Bay drops them out of lead in Division and out of playoffs right now. Need a win tonight vs Islanders and a loss by Tampa to regain lead.

Good bounce back game for the Canes. Got behind the Islanders 2-0, but win 4-2. Couple with a Lightning loss to Pit, and the Canes retake lead in the Division.

Great bounce back game. A 4-1 win over Penguins. Skinner comes back and gets a goal after 5 games out.

Canes dominate Panthers and extend lead in Division with a Tampa Bay loss. Great game!

Ellis and recent call up Peters will have to tend goal for the next couple months. Cam Ward out 6-8 weeks with a knee.

Peters steps in and stops 37 of 40 shots and Canes hang on to beat Buffalo 4-3. Big win for the Canes.
