OT: Oscar Season is Upon Us... (Film Thread)

Anyone see The Raid-Redemption , and action movie that won 4 film festivals, I didn't think this type of movie could be this entertaining for almost 2 hours, but this did it. Not sure if it will get Oscar consideration, but is the best movie I have seen this years, I've seen over 20.

I can't wait to check this out, I am in class right now so I can't listen to it at the moment. Last weekend I watched Alien and Aliens for the first time in a couple of years, I'm really looking forward to this movie, it's right up there with TDKR for me.

Michael Fassender is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors. Really liked him in Inglorious Bastards and X-Men: First Class.

Cabin in the Woods and now Avengers. Joss is having a great year. Early buzz is that Avengers is mindblowing, funny, and on par with A New Hope.

I'd normally agree with you but the movie has already been seen by probally a thousand people (screened around the world/US already) and numerous critics. They can't give full reviews yet but they have all tweeted that it was amazing and on par with The Dark Knight. Everybody who saw it is gushing over it and saying it is insane. I doubt it is as critically acclaimed as TDKR will be but it probally will be alot more fun. Kind of the situation in 09' with Star Trek and District 9. Both great sci-fi movies but at different ends of the spectrum.

I was kidding about it being Star Wars but people are comparing this to that hype. Unlike the new trilogy, it sounds like Avengers lives up to it.

Just saw that TDKR trailer is going to premiere with The Avengers next week. I can't go opening weekend because I'm going to the Kentucky Derby, but I'm sure as hell going to catch that the following week.
