Just curious- would anyone be interested in a collaborative beer based blog of some kind? Was thinking of something along the lines of a community based blog with multiple authors of varying posts- I know there's probably a bunch already out there etc. but seems to be some good knowledge on here. Particularly interested in somewhere to throw beer hacks like the genius of using the aeropress. :D

Can't take credit for originating that idea. I saw it done with a french press in a few articles, but I'll be damned if it doesn't make some delicious beer. The blog sounds interesting and there is definitely enough knowledge on here to put out some quality content. I'll follow any progression with this to see what happens.

I also.

Tasting my brothers home brew I feel it's a matter of time before he brews commercially. Ill-yasova I reckon you talked to him a while ago for a beer swap (before the US realised there was a killing to be made in Aus!)

Very true. We were going to do a swap but shipping was outrageous.

Haven't participated much in this thread so I may have missed it, but has anyone been to Bel Air Cantina? Absolutely loved the place.

Like 150-160 IIRC. We've also got a different appreciation of good beer now. Worries me what we may have sent then!

Yep that was the general area of the price. My wife put that idea down pretty quickly. Still it would have been interesting to see what you would have sent as far as Aussie beers go.

When I'm rich!!!

We'll see, we're a long way behind you guys in the craft scene. New Zealand is ahead of is with like a tenth of the people.

Never know one day.

Love it as well. Probably eat there (East Side) twice a month. Always go with the mix and match 3 tacos, rice, and beans. Always leave stuffed because the wife and I demolish a couple baskets of chips before our food arrives. And now that she's preggo, all bets are off.

*Had a bad experience the one and only time I went to the Tosa location. Chips cold. Food cold. And believe it or not, my Tecate in a can wasn't ice cold. Three strikes and I'll never head back there.

There's an article here that some of you cats might like, it's the impressions of the recent World Beer Cup from some folks from the craft brew industry in Australia- it touches on a few of the differences between scenes. Relatively interesting reading (to me at least).

The first couple of times I ate at Carnivore it was excellent. Then the portions got smaller, the price got higher and the quality went down.

I've had two or three good experiences there and three or four where I left going "Why the **** was that a hundred dollar meal?".

Not a beer enthuaist like some on here, but just tried Lakefront Klisch beer, and that's some tasty beer.

That's how you get started. First it's a lighter craft beer. Soon enough you'll be waiting in line to taste just a sample of Kentucky Bourbon Stout.

If you are looking for a couple others to try that are somewhat similar Sam Adams Noble Pils and New Glarus Totally Naked might be up your alley too.
