OT: Milwaukee Restaurant/Food/Beer/Entertainment Discussion

Post#1 » by Newz » Thu Apr 5, 2012 5:52 pm

I can only stand so much 'Tank vs. Anti-Tank' talk during the day... and I need something else to pass the time. Seeing as how I am a huge foodie, I was going to see if people had any hidden gems when it comes to food in the Milwaukee/Madison area.

If you work downtown, I recommend the sausage/hot dog cart just outside of the Chase building. That guy is awesome and his food is always delicious.

Gloriosso's on Brady has some amazing sandwiches too... and I think my favorite up and coming places to eat are Maxi's Southern Comfort and Blue's Egg.

Newz, I edited the title a bit.

I would prefer to not have more permanent OT threads, but we'll lock the Beer thread and use this for all products.

thx

I always wondered this...why isn't there a general OT thread on this board?

Gloriosso's is delicious.

Their meatball sub, Italian beef and Capreese (spelling?) are all so **** good. Their cookies are ridiculous too.

Also, Points East Pub = Best Wings in Milwaukee

5 O'Clock Steakhouse - Best ribeye I've ever had anywhere. Not even close. Lobster is also amazing.

Anyone had Easter brunch at the Hyatt? I have reservations but never had it or heard how it was.

I have never heard of this place and that's pretty rare as I look up places to go often... But they get great reviews online and their pizza looks really unique.

Definitely going to try them. :D

Five O'Clock Club (Coerpers) has been good for a long time, love it. It's not cheap, the ribeye will set you back $39 but it's mouth watering.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I like AJ Bombers burgers too. Hadn't been there till I saw them on Food Wars, pretty tasty burgers.

That list is just places on the East Side/downtown.

I really like Botana's for Mexican too. Their house pork tacos are amazing.

I live just down the block from The Eatery. The food is overrated IMO. Huge menu, but they should scale it down. You're right, fantastic bloody mary. Any time theres a huge chunk of beef jerky in a bloody, you have my full attention.

Agreed on the food, but 3 styles of delicious bloodys at a reasonable price, yummy, plus the bartenders are great, especially the tall brunette :D

Upscale/Best Place In Town - Sanford's

Sushi - Thainamite. (Izumi's is the best priced)
Thai - EE-Sane, Jow Nai - good call. Had Jow Nai for the first time last week and I live a block away. It was fantastic.
Burgers - Sobleman's on St Paul. I like AJ Bombers but Sobleman's is still the best. And WTF is up with the one on Farwell trying to be all healthy? Just stick to what you do best... give me a greasy burger.
Steak - Carnivore - good call - got a wedding gift certificate from my co-workers and ordered that $150 A-1 Kobe Filet... Oh. My. God. Usually I'm good with the $40 barrel cut. Had to splurge, I wasn't paying for it.
Brunch - LOVE brunch - Never had Brocach... guess I gotta try it. I like Balzac, Benelux, Wicked Hop, THE NOBLE (Monday's only... its for the "industry" people but I'm off on Monday's so I take advantage)
Indian - not a big fan of indian food.
Wings - Points East definitely - easily the best wings in town - no debate.
Lunch - Industri Cafe

BEST SANDWICH - Roots - Their pulled pork sandwich is insane. Its on a pretzel roll with bacon, jalepenos, and melted cheese. Comes with these sweet Yucca chips that help take the sting out of the spicy sandwich. Ridiculous. (Runner up - Philly Way - as close as you can get to an authentic Philly outside of Philadelphia)

Newz, I may disagree with almost every take you have on the Bucks, but you sure do know your food!

Sobleman's is pretty bomb too. Bombs and they are pretty damn close. Also, I agree... don't go to the one on Farwell.

I like Izumi's sushi a lot more than Thainamite though... even though Thainamite isn't that bad. Overall Thainamite isn't that bad. They have a decent variety of solid food.

Kobe Beef is absolutely ridiculous BTW. I have had it at Dream Dance and in Vegas... both times it was absurd. People cannot believe anyone would spend ~$100+ on a piece of steak. It's incredible that it's actually worth it.

You have to try Brocach. Their corn beef hash is totally insane. It's nothing like normal corn beef hash... it's just big chunks of delicious corn beef mixed with well seasoned breakfast potatos and some poached eggs on top.

You guys have to get to the Smoke Shack. Best BBQ hands down. All smoked. Also I like Tokyo (used to be Takara) the best for Sushi.
