This is the guy who got excited when he discovered that he didn't have to pay his first round picks the full amount teams pay them as standard right?

Yes. Resulted in a hold out.

If I recall correctly, Clay Bennet at first, told the Seattle folks all the things they wanted to hear, and then proceeded with his intent to move the Sonics. I could easily see Heisley doing the same.

I'm not excited about a potential Heisley purchase.

Not really trusting him... just because the NBA doesn't think Chicago could have two teams at the time... what about after Stern retires? Or as mentioned, Virginia Beach might want a team again.... Or Vancouver or Kansas City... whatever.

I really doubt Heisley would move the Bucks to Vancouver.

Kohl will not sell to the guy unless he gets agreement to keep the team here for at least ten years. And the only way Heisley agrees to that is with a new arena deal. Then we have an arena lease that they really can't get out of for a long time.

Kohl can't guarantee them here forever, but I think he can for at least ten years with a new arena deal. That's about all we can ask.

I'd rather Kohl keep the team then sell it to Heisley.

I don't see Heisley as a great owner or great scenario. But the current Memphi squad is his.

And that 50 win team for a few years with Pau, Hubie and Jerry West was his. They've had more success than us.

The one thing about Heisley is he's always willing to go cheap and tank. Yet they made it out of the first round once in 17 years, and never made a conference final. This year's team may be the best he's had.

And also Joerger.

Oh my, If only Menard and Kohler were basketball fans.
Maybe Heisley would build an arena in Waukegan.

Can't we at least find a potential owner who is under 70? I think I'd rather holdout for another buyer.

The above is the radio podcast interview where Heisley defends his 1st round pick contract thing. I remember Rome making a show or two about this interview as well. I remember thinking he was a meddler on the level of a Kohl at the time. Which would pretty much be par for the course. No luck but bad luck as a Buck fan.

If I had the cash and wanted a NBA franchise, I would think the Bucks would have some value if you have the ability to fund the stadium and essentially get ownership of it. This is probably getting all above my head, but isn't the biggest reason the Bucks value, outside of Market size, being low is because they do not own their or have control of an arena. Basically we lease it and although we reap the most benefits, we do share revenues. If somebody were to buy the team and get an arena with control of the revenue, wouldn't the value of the Bucks increase significantly due to the value of the building and more of that revenue coming in?

I understand MU, etc would not be for that, but if the owner has a deep pocket and can get majority of the building up himself or his investment group. Maybe sell the BC to MU and get rid of that US Cellular Arena.

If the new building is more than just an arena it could be a money maker. But there has to be bars, restaurants, etc... as part of the overall plan. A standalone arena, even one that is nicer than the BC, isn't enough.

As for Marquette, they pay rent now to the BC, I see no reason they wouldn't want to pay rent to whoever owns/runs the new Bucks arena, I don't think it would matter whether it's the Bucks owner or some other investor. Can't keep the BC and a new building though, too redudant. The old Arena has limited value as well. While it's nice for the Wave and UWM it's juit not used very often. Neither is the Milwaukee Theater.

It's not even used for UWM anymore. They're playing at the Klotsche Center.
