I'm surprised Oklahoma State isn't ranked with both Smart and Nash on the squad. Impressive win against NC State.

My Gophers may be ranked next week going into their matchup with Duke in the Battle4Atlantis.

Didn't get to see it since I'm at work, but it looks like Marquette lost on a last second shot to Butler. **** way to start the Maui Invitational. Looks like Vander had a huge game though, dropped 21. Hopefully that is a sign of things to come.

I am not a fan of Junior Cadougan at all.

WTF?

I've been anti-Cadougan for a while now. He reminds me of the short kid in grade school who always insisted on being PG even though he was the worst ball handler.

Butler is the luckiest team ever. :upset:

Best game Vander blue has ever played.

Marquette also really was hurting for a guy like crowder to guard Khyle Marshall who they had no answer for. They also struggled a lot when butler would back screen with a shooter while reversing the ball. Gave up some wide open alley oop dunks because of bad defense.

Still, butler is a solid team. They're a year away from being real good again IMO. They've got a couple real nice players who just need some seasoning.

As much as it pains me, I think MU is going to struggle this year. Buzz has done a good job of having a pretty strong team each year but I don't see a go to guy right now. Last year you could always rely on DJO and/or Crowder. They really need Vander Blue to step up consistently. I know it's early and it was a flukely loss, but I think they are going to need every win they can get this year. I guess we'll see what happens, hopefully I am wrong.

Don't like it from a fan's perspective (**** teams) but totally understand it from a business (read: $$$) perspective. The bright side as a fan is that it opens up those areas for recruiting. I would start recruiting OLOGC immediately. Both programs are sleeping giants in the sense that they are great recruiting areas. When they start seeing big monetary gains in their ADs (many, many years from now), who knows...

So who is next? Very unlikely to happen soon IMO, but I doubt 14 is the cap. 16 seems inevitable. Let's assume we can't get ND (which isn't necessarily true...just for discussion), they can stick to their continuous states and AAU membership purported desires and get Virginia and North Carolina. Both states are highly populated = more $$$.

And for you Marquette people, the Big East's future as a conference - beyond football - looks more and more bleak:

The Big East needs to just go to a basketball only conference.

Georgetown
Marquette
St. John's
Providence
DePaul
Seton Hall
Villanova (I know they are trying to add a football team, but maybe they'd give up on it)

Then go after some of the best mid-major non-football schools like VCU, Xavier, etc.

I agree. It should be setting off all the alarms - as if they shouldn't already be going off - that two mid-majors and an independent are thinking about backing out of joining the conference.

Villanova and Georgetown have football teams. They're in the FCS.
