ATL: The New Orleans Pelicans edition

The Lakers are boring. Let's talk about the Brow and his flock of Pelicans.

I don't really like the name.

Haha, that's a horrible name. I did hear that the Bobcats would likely take the Hornets name back when this becomes official. So that's be interesting.

Like the name a lot, especially seeing the alternatives (Krewe and Brass).

Of course this happens a week after Jordan says he would take the Charlotte Hornets name back if available.

Pelicans?? That's awful. I thought they might try to play off the Saints heritage. Like Krewe or Brass better.

Pretty sure New Orleans looking to change the name is what prompted MJ to suggest they'd look at the Hornets name if it became available.

Anyway Gasol adds to the list of good (or high profile) players missing chunks of time this season. Off the top of my head...

Gasol
Nash
Dirk
Eric Gordon
Anthony Davis
Kevin Love
Ricky Rubio
Bogut
Brandon Rush
Battier
Avery Bradley
Amar'e
Shumpert
Bynum
Rose
Kyrie Irving
Granger
Wall
Nene

You could make 3 playoff teams out of that group.

I like Brass, but mostly just so I can hear the announcers constantly saying things like "Out of bounds.. Brass ball."
this town needs an enema.

Don't mind Pelicans. Certainly different. Also means MJ can get the Cats to change back.

I would think Brass would have better marketing ability too. A trombone or trumpet mascot, complete with spit nozzle, foam brass instruments, gold uniforms, bands playing, etc. Instead we will just see stupid hats with long brimmed beaks.

Here are some fan jersey designs: http://espn.go.com/blog/playbook/fandom ... he-hornets

NO Steamers could have had some good potential versus Cleveland.
