Do we know he would have not improved knowing he had a consistent role to play?

Frankly, I think Skiles main failure as a coach is his inability to create roles for players and to utilize those roles on a nightly basis. There is too much "floating" by him, and, therefore, by his players on a nightly basis.

IMO, the problem there is the only players that are consistently labelled 'scorers' are also (in reality) 'chuckers'. Other than Dunleavy. I can't really put that on Skiles... without a consistent go-to scorer, he has to use what is there.

Until there is an efficient scorer on the team, whoever has the hot hand is going to shoot, along with Team Tiny in the backcourt... some days it will be awesome, and some days it will not.

I'm with Jimmy, the Drew Gooden argument trumps everything else. I would like to throw in our record last year as another basis of why you would play a young player over a crappy veteran.

Thats fine. And true to a certain extent. What people keep conveniently ignoring, for some strange reason, is the fact that DREW GOODEN was the other option. Yes, that Drew Gooden. The Drew Gooden that would give up the lane every single time someone came at him. The Drew Gooden that was a step slow on every defensive possession. The Drew Gooden that loved the 19-footer.

As much as I want to see Harris play, there are other legitimate options at his position. I don't want to see four small forwards splitting minutes right down the middle. So bench the young guy right now. Fine. Huge difference between Tobias' situation this year and Larry's last year.

Yeah, Gooden is pretty terrible. I still think Sanders would have fouled out in under 20 mins a game last year though. You don't want to spend the last half of the first 3 quarters with your opponent in the bonus, night in and night out, when you are trying to make the playoffs.

Kinda want to see him go after Sanders tonight, just to see what would happen

I'd rather see him punch Monta in the nuts if Ellis is shooting like 30% or something.

Larry was a better option than Drew last year. I wonder, though, if he'd have still been motivated to make the major mental adjustments he made over the offseason had he been playing big minutes (as big as his fouling would have allowed) last season. Maybe, but I suspect not. And now, having made those adjustments, Larry's a far better option than he even was last year. So I find it difficult to quibble with the results.

Small sample size (5 games) but Larry is averaging only 3 fouls a game is about 28 minutes since Luc came back. Losing Monta on the wing would help him even more.

comparing the playing time sanders got to the time tobias is getting is nuts. harris is a very refined 20 year old, or whatever he is.... he needs more time. if people keep showing those ppp stats on offense and defense and where he ranks in the league im gonna go nuts if this benching keeps up.

There's some disagreement between what Tobes is allowing his man in ppp and how the team is performing when he's in there. All in all I think the low volume of numbers makes things awfully muddy at this point from either angle. In watching the games, it seems like he's at fault for breakdowns pretty often. That said, more often than Monta? No.
