At this point we can all agree that Boylan will not be back, can't we? Pretty much guaranteed a sub-500 record and more than likely embarrassing 1st round exit. I don't see any way the Bucks will bring him back. Hammond has never really endorsed Boylan at any point.

I honestly think the only way he is even considered is if somehow take Miami to a 7 game series, which isn't happening. I don't foresee us winning a game at this point.

I'd like to throw another possible name out there, Nick Nurse.

Here's a good piece on him from 2011 when he was hired as Vipers coach. He even has ties to us...
Additionally, Nurse served as an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks Summer Pro Team in 2000.

This year he's coached the Rio Grande Valley Vipers to a 2nd best 35-15 record, they are on a 10 game winning streak and his team has a better differential than any other D-League team by 2.4 points per.

No way would Sloan ever work with Herb and the cronies. Orlando is a relatively small market tho and has some nice young players...

We're in the playoffs aren't we? That seems like it was the goal all along. Hammond got his extension and who would realistically want to coach this team?

Hmmm, does anyone really see Sloan coming to the Bucks with Brandon Jennings on the roster? This is the coach who quit because Deron Williams was causing trouble with him.

Not optimistic about getting anyone worth getting excited over.

Jerry Sloan was willing to take the Bobcats job. I think he'd take ours.

I'm all for a Smart or Sampson coach. I could totally see the Bucks wanting someone like Doug Collins however. See wiretap...

I've been on the Kelvin Sampson bandwagon for a long time, I think it makes sense for a lot of reasons:

1. Since this would be his 1st real head coaching gig, I'm sure they could get him fairly cheap
2. He's familiar with the orgainzation and understands how they operate already
3. He might be one of the few coaches that could hopefully get Brandon Jenning's head right

But instead of Sampson, I'm sure we will hear about all the re-treads like Flip Saunders and Nate McMillon.

I'd rather the organization take a new fresh approach and stay away from the re-treads, and hire a top assistant like Sampson, that's hungry and hopefully that would translate on the court, because all of the re-treads pretty much have a shelf life, which isn't very long.

Then I'd try and talk Kurt Thomas into being one of the assistant coaches, I think the guy has a ton of knowledge, and could really help our bigs develop.

Would totally be down for this. I think he would be good for Sanders and Henson.

I like Kelvin Sampson,he seems to be a good communicator with the players. Also the Kurt Thomas idea, is a good one. 2 names from the Spurs that worked under "Pops" for a long time and had to learn a wealth of information from him. Mike Budenholzer, lead asst.(been there 15 yrs.) and Brett Brown, asst. coach(been there 11 yrs.).

I'm guessing Herb is going to want to try and get a "name" in here. He has in the past with Skiles, and prior years he pushed hard to get Flip Saunders (at the time was hotter name) and Doug Collins. In the 90's he paid big to get Dunleavy Sr. and Karl. Chris Ford had the Celtics pedigree with him.

I think the biggest splash we could make would be Jerry Sloan, but if we go the rebuilding route I don't see him being interested.

Besides Sloan, the best PR hire would be Sam Cassell for obvious reasons. But that would be a really risky and reach of a hire.

I think Kelvin Sampson is the best, safest hire. He's been here, he has alot of success at the college level, had some success this year with Rockets, and seems to be respected. But I'm guessing he'll be desired by other teams.

If we go the re-tread route a guy like Nate McMillian I could live with.

I don't know enough about assistant coaches to be a good judge. That one from SA is mentioned alot and I know Mike Malone in GSW has been mentioned.

Who are some other teams that will be looking for Coaches. Obviously the Nets and Suns have interm coaches. Doug Collins may step down in Philly. Frank may be out in Detroit. I don't know about Wittman in Washington, Casey in Toronto, Scott in Cleveland, and Smart in Sacramento. I could see a few those canned. I'd think Vaughn and Stotts would be safe in Orlando/Portland.

If Kohl somehow sees the light after the abomination of the Tobias trade, in an ideal world, he would offer Jerry Sloan a Pat Riley-esque salary and ownership stake.

Give him a major title and ultimate control. Keep Hammond on in addition even if Herbie doesn't want to eat his extension.

I hope Houston bails on McHale and gives Sampson the keys.

Per Eastside Bucks Fan...

K L Chouinard ‏@AnaheimAmigos 30m

RT @ByTonyAtkins: RT @SamAmicoFSO: Byron Scott will be candidate in Milwaukee if interim coach Jim Boylan not retained, Bucks sources say.

Worth an interview, but doesn't get me that excited. A retread at this point. He had some good years in New Jersey and with the Hornets, but his run in Cleveland was rough albeit they had alot of injury issues with Irving, Varejo.

Sounds like Scott is a hard nosed guy like Skiles though, not sure if that's the route we'll be going. Per NBC Sports' Kurt Helin...

Scott, a veteran coach with a hard-nosed style, was in charge of a rebuilding project. They were not going to win much. He was tasked with helping his team grow...

...What did Scott in was defense — the Cavaliers were 27th in the NBA in defensive efficiency this past season, they were 25th and 29th Scott’s two other seasons. To be fair, injuries like the one this season to Anderson Varejao impacted those numbers, but the Cavs never really improved on that end of the court. It’s hard to say that Scott was building a defensive culture there.

The question becomes: Is an old-school, long practice loving, grinding coach a good choice for a young team? Cavaliers players talked about being worn down at the end of the season. There was frustration in the locker room. Young teams need rules and boundaries, but they also need positive reinforcement and was there enough of that in Cleveland?

I don't see any difference between Scott Skiles and Byron Scott.

Decent defense, terrible offense, wears out their voice in the locker room eventually.

Some potential coaches that intrigue me...

Unrealistic options: Phil Jackson, Jerry Sloan, Steve Kerr

Realistic options: Kelvin Sampson, Nate McMillin, Sidney Moncrief, Sam Cassell (I'd be open to this)

Who we will probably hire: Byron Scott, Lawerence Frank, or Joe Wolf (god, I hope not  )

eh no thanks on Scott, Stein brought up Kelvin which I would be ok with but I still think Shaw is the best bet if you want to continue Kohl's win now mantra
