Atlas Genius' full album, When It Was Now, can now be streamed on SoundCloud.

MikeIsGood wrote:Atlas Genius just posted a new track - Centered on You - to SoundCloud. I am in the process of listening to it right now. This one is very retro, 80's-synthy. That seems to be a trend right now on the indie scene.

Can't post a link from work or else I would. Should be easy enough to find, though.

Especially down under.

Naked and Famous have a bit of it (though I think they are from NZ?).
Van She
Strange Talk
Midnight Juggernauts (a bit older)

I bet there are other ones, but there is a strong scene right now, and they seem to love that style. Temper Trap is another Aussie band, but I've expressed my discontent with their latest album enough on here.

Through the Glass is my favorite of songs I hadn't heard before.

MiG - You have Spotify? Centered on You was up there for a while (and maybe on SoundCloud).

Gold Fields is another Aussie band that has a retro thing going on. I believe I have posted their track Dark Again before. I love that song. The 80s-retro style is hit and miss for me. For instance, I unfortunately wasn't really feeling (on first listen) many of the other Atlas Genius tracks. Given my excitement for everything they had put out to this point, that left me quite disappointed.

Through the Glass was my favorite of the previously unreleased tunes, too.

I do have Spotify (free) but I don't use it much. I use SoundCloud a lot because it's mobile app is free, and most indie bands (lot of the stuff I listen to) use it as a means to get their music out there, so it's easy to make a playlist on the go.

Man, I could watch "Once" over and over again not to mention The Swell Season. They were fantastic together.
