if something crazy like gooden + ersan + dalemburt for gay
can happen, then yes, id b in for that

jennings, ellis, rudy, moute, larry
beno, dunleavy, tobias, henson, udoh

Second worst offense in the league.

at least its not the worst.

but, if its just a salary dump and theyd do gooden, ersan, sammy
they id do it
gooden, sammy not even playing
ersan minutes go to udoh, henson
only Tobias suffers on the bench

No way do I want Gay.

I see no reason to trade for a guy that even if he gets better wouldn't come close to earning the money he is owed. Didn't we learn anything from the Redd deal?

No thanks. Not a chance.

I'm not sure if he's worth half that.

Hollinger comes in and all of a sudden Gay is on his way out the door?

He may target Gooden in a trade. Wasn't he on his list of most under-appreciated players in the league?
We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees.

It is not like Hollinger is the GM in Memphis. You also don't need to be an analytics nut to see that Memphis could likely replace Gay with a much cheaper player and not experience much of a dropoff. They should definitely be open to trading him.

They've been trying to move gay for a while. Randolph and gay just don't play well together because they both tend to catch and hold. For a team trying to compete it makes more sense to try and exploit their monster front court and move gay for some help elsewhere if they can and perhaps fix their salary structure a bit. Don't think this has much of anything to do with hollinger honestly.

this movie would fill 1 hole and create another. So the question is would you rather have a weakness at SF or SG.
I think I'd do this deal tho assuming we amnestied gooden in the offseason.

agreed. if rudy gay was paul pierce id be all over it. but hes not. i dont think hes even prime richard jefferson. personally from a financial perspective id rather pay marvin williams a fraction of that money and then tell him to try and go try and be the next rudy gay. i think wed get a similar result.

Obviously I'm in the minority but if I can turn Ersan and Gooden into Gay(again not sure if this is realistic)I'm probably going to do it and take a run this year. Still leaves me Beno, Dally to make other moves, maybe kind of go all-in.

Yeah, it's not realistic at all. Memphis gets minimal savings and two guys at a position of their best player.

If Rudy Gay was Paul Pierce the Grizzlies wouldn't even consider trading him.

Yeah, that's what I don't get. If this were a guy who were outperforming his contract as a #1 option, we wouldn't have the assets to trade for him or they wouldn't want to deal him int he first place.

Gay is the type of player who should be a role playing SF who defends with a passion, spots up, runs the break, and gets plays called his way when he has a physical advantage over his opponent. He's the kind of guy who should average 15-16 PPG who is known primarily as a defensively player who is a threat on the break and as a spot up shooter. Instead, he plays like he is a #1 threat offensively. He isn't anywhere close to being the type of defensive player he could be. He plays with the scrap of a guy who considers himself a #1 scorer who needs to conserve energy offensively instead of a team first hustle guy.

I'd hate Gay even more than Monta because he'd be signed for longer and he'd be making substantially more money while being the equivalent player at SF.

I agree with that one guy who mentioned making another traded after it. I think trading for Gay alone wouldn't be a smart move. However, you trade for Gay, then make a move for Pau maybe (whose value continues to fall) and maybe a shooter or 2 at SG and I like where the team is going. Jennings/shooter/Gay/Pau/Sanders is a legit playoff threat in the East IMO. But just doing like Ellis+Lamb for Gay or Ellis+Gooden for Gay+Wroten is not really something I'd want.

That being said I don't think he will be that hard to move a year down the line if we do get him. Pau makes 19M per for 1.5 more years, in 1 year Gay will be in a similar boat, but 4 years younger than current Pau playing a position that's thinner. So if it doesn't work I don't think it would be too hard to get out of.

Udoh, Tobes, Dalembert for Gay.

Jennings/Ellis/Gay/Moute/Sanders with Beno/Dunleavy/Ersan/Henson off the bench.
Scott Skiles on being compared by reporters to Hall of Fame coach Pat Riley: "If I thought you guys knew anything, I'd be flattered."

No way. Gay isn't an asset at his contract.

Not to mention Memphis will be looking for a player to make them better. I do think a deal around Korver/Harris makes sense and works for Atlanta as well.

Ellis/Dunleavy for Gay is a much better deal for the Grizzlies in my opinion.
