I've been told that any first round pick satisfies the rule - it doesn't have to be yours. However, that was under the prior CBA so perhaps it has changed.

Still works that way.

No doubt. That's how Memphis does it with Allen/Ellington/Pondexter.

What about a trade that would include Monta Ellis, Sam Dalembert, Drew Gooden for Gerald Henderson, Ben Gordon and Diop? That seems like a pretty even trade.

Gordon makes $13.2M next year and is well past his best days, plus we can amnesty Gooden, can't amnesty Gordon. Henderson is up for an extension. Diop wouldn't play over any of our bigs. But mostly, I'm not adding that much salary for Gordon.

My start at a great off season would be to hire Sampson and then get Eric Gordon.

From what has been discussed, Id like to get Mayo as well. Tony Allen would be interesting but Id like him more as a back up (he'll probably cost too much for that). Oddly, enough both have brothers that play college ball in Milwaukee so I could see some mutual interest.

I assume Eric Gordon would cost quite a bit to obtain.

Perhaps look again at Jeremy Lamb.

Does Skiles being gone make us more likely to trade Jennings?

They clearly were close, if only as evidenced by Baddy being one of the few to sing his praises upon his ouster.

I think Ellis goes before Jennings. At this point, I'd be very surprised if Jennings was dealt, assuming the Bucks aren't blown away by a too-good-to-be-true offer for him.
Nothing will not break me.

I'm just hoping we move Ellis before the deadline.

Ok so does Skiles being gone increase the chances we trade Ellis?

It seems like Scotty might have been even more involved in our team's transactions than we would have thought. Perhaps Ellis was someone he pushed for at the expense of Stephen Curry.

I agree. There's no reason to since he's restricted and will set his own value.

Will be interesting to see if Ellis is moved during the season. Depending on the return I don't think many would be very upset in the event he was dealt.

Looking through the SG's in the league..wow is this position watered down. Bunch of guys who can't shoot. Not as bad as Ellis, but low 40's

I'd love to see us go after Reggie Jackson to either be our SG or PG if we decided to trade Jennings.

That's like doubling down on Monta Ellis.

Thornton is awful at winning basketball.

Looks like Dallas may try to mix it up, Cuban is not used to losing.

If he can move Dirk(get by his no trade clause)for Howard maybe Cuban will want to pair him with his buddy Monta.

Dallas Out: Dirk/Marion/Mayo
Dallas In:: Ellis/Howard

Milwaukee Out: Ellis/Daniels
Milwaukee In: Marion/Mayo

LA Out: Howard
LA In: Dirk/Daniels

I can't see Cuban trading Dirk. I would think he'd do everything he can change things around Dirk. I'm not saying Dirk is elite, nor do I believe Cuban thinks that, but I think Cuban would do his best to improve the team and keep Dirk on it.

I disagree. Cuban is strictly a businessman at his core. He has always talked about how it's better to bottom out than win 30-45 games. Dirk has also said that he think the Mavs should trade him if they're not in contention.

I don't think they'll trade him for win-now players, but I could easily see them trading him. Cuban got where he is by always thinking of the future and being ready for what's next. That is his core philosophy. He is one of the few owners in any sport who would trade a guy like Dirk in that situation.

They're also trying to free up cap room to sign CP3 and Howard. A Dirk trade could do that for them, and would also give them a chance at a top-7 pick (or even top-3). I think that would be very hard for Cuban to pass up as a businessman. Loyalty won't be as much of a factor as it is with other people.

Something involving Dirk to LAL, Pau to a third team, and expiring contracts plus youth/picks to Dallas would make a lot of sense.
