Potential Jennings trade thread (POLL ADDED)

Post#1 » by ReasonablySober » Fri Jan 18, 2013 6:48 pm

1 - Smith
2 - Gay
3 - Jefferson
4 - Granger
5 - Gortat
6 - Bargnani
7. Brandon Jennings, PG, Bucks
The Bucks have been among the most active teams in the league when it comes to trade calls. It doesn't look like anyone on their roster is safe. While my esteemed colleague Marc Stein wrote recently that Jennings was the least likely Buck to be moved, I'm not so sure.

Jennings hits restricted free agency this summer and, with a plethora of teams under the cap, someone is going to make him a big offer. Jennings would prefer a trade, and the Bucks aren't going to want to break the bank for him, so the team has been open to parting ways if they can get a point guard and big man in return.

8 - Bledsoe
9 - Cousins
10 - Rondo

Yeah the reasoning is ridiculous but maybe he's trying to think like the Bucks... in which case he's probably not far off.

I can't imagine what kind of horrible big man, PG package we would get in return.. yikes! Why would we need a big man anyways?

It'll be interesting to see how many players on that list are actually traded. That's a pretty **** list.

It's going to look something like Lowry & Amir if it happens.

That's a weird list. I actually think all of those guys don't get traded.
"I just wanted to play because I just love the game," Jennings said. "It doesn't matter to me. I get up to play basketball. It's my job. I have to still be a professional and finish the season."

It may just be my Midwestern aggravation with ESPN, but I've always felt that Ford's real knowledge and interest in any NBA team's real situation is directly proportional to their distance from New York and LA. Minnesota and Milwaukee, and even the big city Bulls, regardless of record, don't move the needle much on his seismograph.

If Jennings say to Hammond "I'm not taking less than 11m per year"

Jennings/Lamb/Dalembert for Lowry/Ross/Gray

Toronto will having Jennings and Calderon off the books this summer and can go another direction if they can't resign him. My theory here is they have DeRozan locked up and they should swing for the fences with Jennings and their lotto pick.

*edit*
Another way of putting it, is that I think he throws hot-stove league Spam into the discussion, just so he can hit his editor's deadline for content.....

if we deal jennings and keep the current frontcourt intact...... then it would be cool to see larry take a shot at the alltime single game block record the first time we face him.

Typical pre-deadline speculation.

Cousins to the Rockets makes sense though.

I really don't think anybody has any idea what we're going to do. The only thing I agree with is that nobody is safe. One report will say Jennings is not going anywhere, the next he may be out. Same with guys like Gooden, Ellis, etc.

Sit back and see what happens.

Rondo is 'likely to be traded' every season.

Actually Ford has had a really good pipeline into this team and he had a great relationship with the Detroit front office when Hammond was there. I'd take this info as legit and potentially something Hammond leaked out to him so that people around the league who hadn't thought about Jennings now might "present" something to him.

If you need back-up on this, just think back to the draft day in 2009. Early that morning Ford came on and said no questions, the Bucks are going Brandon Jennings with the 10th pick. I can recall then how many on here thought there was no way Scott Skiles would go for the erratic streetball kid who averaged 7ppg in Europe. But throughout the day Ford kept saying Jennings. And they took Jennings even after the guy we all thought would be the leading candidate, Jrue Holiday was still on the board.

Ford also calls us a possible landing spot for Gortat:

Gortat may be the exception. Teams are always looking for tough, productive big men. If the Suns decide to blow things up and try to collect young assets, I think they can get a draft pick and a young prospect in return for Gortat. Boston, Milwaukee and Atlanta are all on speed dial.

Anything with Bledsoe would be awesome.
