What happens to our starting lineup with Redick?

So with Ellis staying, we currently have Jennings, Ellis, Dunleavy and Redick, all of whom will get minutes at the 1 and 2. Do you think we'll do the right thing and bench Ellis, or did the Bucks just spend two assets to idiotically replace Beno Udrih with JJ Redick for half a season?

Do we even have a backup PG? Earl Boykins signing imminent?

Unchanged. Redick is used to coming off the bench, Monta is not. The last thing Boylan wants under his only 30 left head coaching opportunities is a mutiny caused by a scrub like Monta.

My guess is Redick becomes the first guy off the bench and like he did in Orlando, gets a third of his minutes at PG. The organization inexplicably seems to like Ellis. If it were me, he'd never see the court.

There is zero chance that Ellis will be coming off the bench for Redick who has been coming off the bench all season for the Magic. It might work out nicer, but its not happening. Certainly not with an interim coach trying to make that work.

Jennings 35/Redick 13
Ellis 38/Redick 10

We play

Ellis
Jennings
Reddick

And hope that Larry's great D outweighs everyone else's terrible/mediocre D

I thought the argument for Redick was that he was an above average starter???

He would be if he starts.

Absolutely nothing. There is a 0% chance that Redick starts over Monta or take any of his PT. He'll be the back up at SG and PG, possibly get some time in a 3 guard lineup.

Zach Lowe, smartest NBA writer working:

I'll say this: Any minutes the Bucks shift from Monta Ellis to J.J. Redick represent a big plus.

Ding ding ding.

Monta will go full S-Jax on us if we mess with his starting spot or his PT

Let him. He can pout all he wants, it only hurts his value in the offseason.

So play him 0 minutes and it all works out.

This is probably accurate. Which is fine. I don't hate Redick. Don't even hate the deal. But I do hate so many godda** things about this deadline. Why is Ellis still here after declining an extension? Why was Dalembert not moved? Why did the Josh Smith trade fall apart? Why was there no backup plan?

Going forward...

We traded Udrih, Harris, and Lamb (3 guys that never saw the floor) for Redick, Ayon, and Smith. Redick and Ayon will immediately play significant minutes. I hope to freaking Christ that doesn't mean extending the rotation.

Jennings/Smith
Ellis/Redick
LRMAM/Dunleavy
Ilyasova/Henson/Gooden
Sanders/Dalembert/Ayon/Pryz

Still an unbalanced roster. Still undersized. Still nowhere near contenders.

But my biggest fear in all of this is Ellis opting out (why didn't they f***ing trade him?) and the Bucks overpaying Redick to be the starting SG for the next 4 years. Redick is not a starter. He's a nice player off the bench but definitely not a starter. I'm so sick with all of this running through my head right now.
