I think they'd be around $23 million with just Ersan, Luc, Udoh, Sanders, Henson, and Ish on the team. Not bad for a blank slate.

I think you have 2 options...

1. Let Ellis walk, let Redick walk, make Jennings a firm 4/40M offer or less, draft a wing (or PG), and go with the core of Henson, Sanders, Jennings, and the draft pick. I'd peddle Moute for something. Go young. Kind of like when the GP deal backfired, go young & cheap like the next season (Terry Porter's first year).

2. Trade Ellis if he opts in or let him walk. Sign Jennings, make huge push for Josh Smith, re-sign Dunleavy, sign Redick, and trade anybody if you need cap room. And get a win now team. Try to go with Jennings, Redick, Smith, Ersan, Sanders.

Just pick a solid direction. We should have money to spend.

if Ellis opts in trade him for a garbage expiring to create a small amount of cap room
if we get lucky and he opts out sign Anthony Morrow and Chris Kaman to a 1 year deal
draft McCollum, Burke, or Hardaway
sign Darren Collison
trade Ersan for DeRozan
A. resign Redick B. sign Gerald Henderson
resign Dunleavy
amnesty Gooden
fill in the roster with minimum contracts

DeRozan 9.5 Dunleavy 3.5
Henson 1.9 Udoh 4.5 LRMAM 4.6
Sanders 3 (Kaman 4)
Collison 10 McCollum or Burke 1.5 Smith 1
Redick 8 (Morrow 4)

Extend Sanders
S&T Jennings - otherwise let him walk
Let Monta walk - or if he opts in, trade him for whatever limited liability return can be done
Let Redick walk - He's good, but I anticipate too steep a demand price
No thanks for Josh Smith - too steep of a price
Let Dalembert walk
Amnesty Gooden
I'm indifferent on retaining MJD
Luc can be included on a deal that returns prospects or a first. Otherwise, hang on to him

Hire Sampson, or another coach who can develop younger players.

Herb sells the Franchise to someone keeping the team in Milwaukee

**** edit - I'm not sure which of the ideas above is more un-realistic.....

should have said my realistic plan, not the way I want to do it but that is reality until Kohl sells
would rather give Collison 10 than Jennings 12+

I'd be hesistant to give Collison 5 mil a year, much less 10.

I was saying the same thing. Hell, even Amare is staying in the post more after a summer at Hakeem's camp and doing a pretty nice job down there too.

We are still in win now mode because our boss says so.....

Ellis opts out. Wishful thinking.....trade him if he opts in if possible.

Jennings is resigned....though somewhat begrudgingly....overpaying I am sure.

JJ is resigned to a reasonable deal for the Milwaukee Bucks...overpaying I am sure.

Josh Smith is signed. Though not for a max # and he gets less that he thinks he's worth. Hope he doesn't really love Ellis THAT much.

Dalembert, Daniels, Pryz can all walk.

Ersan is used to acquire a real SG. I'd rather move Udoh but I don't think that gets it done.

Resign Dunleavy to a reasonable deal. Cannot overpay. Let him walk if need be.

Something like this anyways who be pretty decent. I know we keep the inefficient Jennings, but my hope is that with a better team around him he will not be required to score as much and he will improve his efficiency numbers.

Jennings / JJ
A Real SG / JJ / Dunleavy
Moute / Smith / Dunleavy
Smith / Henson / Udoh
Sanders / Henson / Udoh

You are what you can defend.

As much as I would like the Bucks to start over and rebuild I realize that likely won't happen. So here's an idea of what they could do:
-Resign Jennings (4/40)
-Resign Redick (not sure what he's worth but might as well try to resign him)
-amnesty Gooden
-draft Glenn Robinson III (or best available SF/SG)
-sign Millsap or David West(Would prefer West because he could give the Bucks a nice veteran PF who could start until Henson is ready to takeover whether that's sometime next year or sometime later)
-trade Ersan and Moute and/or Udoh for a veteran SF (Butler, Ariza, Marion?) and a young SG (Brooks, Lamb, Shumpert?)
-resign Dunleavy if cheap enough. If not then maybe Korver, Dorell Wright, or some other wing 3pt threat
-sign Devin Harris or another backup PG who could also play SG if need be.
Bucks depth chart:
PG: Brandon Jennings, Devin Harris(or someone else), Ish Smith
SG: Redick, Young SG(Brooks, Lamb, other), Harris/backup PG, FA signing/2nd rounder
SF: Veteran SF, GRIII, Dunleavy/Korver/Wright
PF: Millsap/West, Henson, Udoh or Moute (if still on roster), FA signing/2 rounder
C: Sanders, FA signing

Honestly, I expect something similar to the offseason where we blew our wad on Redd and Simmons. We're going to throw around crazy money on day 1 and not even think about the consequences. Wouldn't be shocked to see us outbid ourselves on Redick and Smith on day 1 of free agency, then match Jennings regardless of what his offer sheet was, to lock in a pretty mediocre team for quite a few years.
