I disagree completely. I made a Pippen comparison a while ago and I'm standing by it as what Giannis will be if he hits his ultimate ceiling. I know many will scoff at that, and that's fine, but like I said, I made that comparison a while ago.

I think dudley was asked a question and he was saying he is more like pippen than Durant and LeBron

He said he is going to make first team all defensive multiple times in his career. That's closer to a pippen career than LeBron and Durant

If Giannis were playing third string center for us right now situationally, would he do demonstrably worse than Henson?

Both are string beans though Henson certainly has more experience banging bigger bodies.

Anyways if we trade Zaza or Henson and don't pick up another big then Ersan or Giannis would be on deck to take some of that clock.

Well, you're not really disagreeing with me then. I have no idea what his ceiling is - it could be Pippen. But for Dudley to call him an athletic Scottie Pippen while he's 19 isn't the same as saying that this is his ultimate ceiling.

I mean, he'd pretty clearly be better than Henson. He is better than Henson. I don't think that's really best for anybody, though. Maybe if you had two of him.

I'm not saying he'll reach Pippen's level, but when I watch him, that's who he reminds me of if I'm going to compare him to a great player. Very similar skill sets. Pippen never became that great of a 3 point shooter. He could guard multiple positions at an elite level, initiate offense and let your PG play off the ball, and give you 17-20 ppg. I think that's what Giannis becomes. I mean, he's already doing everything on the floor and still is two weeks away from his 20th birthday. In fact, he's probably further ahead than Pippen was in terms of offense. Pippen's rookie year at age 22 was 13.6 points @ .489 TS per 36.

I know some people don't like the hype on Giannis. But the hype is for a legitimate reason. This is the best prospect we've had since Allen AT LEAST.

I agree that Pippen is underrated by product of playing with Jordan, but top 10 all-time is a stretch. I'd put him top 25-30 at the highest.

I really don't know what his ceiling is, but I think it's easier to split it into offense and defense. Defensively, I think he's going to be a longer Trevor Ariza. Great wing defender but I don't know if he'll have the type of lateral coordination to defend smaller guards the way Pippen could (this is where his length is almost a detriment).

Offensively, the sky's the limit. If he can develop a consistent jumper, his ceiling is a cross between Bob McAdoo and James Harden. I've said it before, but Giannis can literally just drive the lane and flail is arms and legs and will end up drawing a foul 50% of the time.

Very limited sample size, but here is their Year 2 comp per 36;

Pip - 15.6 points, 6.6 reb, 3.8 ast, 2.1 stl, .6 blk, 3.0 to, 4.5 fta on 47.6% shooting, 52.4% TS age 23
Gia - 17.0 points, 7.7 reb, 2.4 ast, 1.1 stl, .9 blk, 2.1 to, 5.9 fta on 52.5% shooting, 58.8% TS age 19

I'd say it would be difficult to find a better comp.

I think a taller Andre Igoudala is also a pretty valid comparison, especially if Giannis never becomes a + jumpshooter. Similar skillset in terms of being able to act as a secondary ball-handler or lead ball-handler in transition, defensive monsters capable of guarding 2-3 positions.

Pippen didn't even attempt more than 2 three point attempts until he was 28. Plenty of time for Giannis to develop that. Until he is done growing (which I hope he is now) and until he fills out his frame, I expect that to be a work in progress.

All that being said, I agree that Andre is a good comp....More than likely Giannis ends up somewhere on the between Andre and Pippen on the below spectrum;

Anthony Randolph - Hakim Warrick - Shawn Marion - Andre Iguodala -GA- Scottie Pippen - Magic Johnson

http://www.bucksketball.com/2014/11/gia ... -the-leap/

These numbers Giannis has been putting up were essentially projected by someone here a few weeks ago with comparison of his usg/ts% to Harden, Lebron, etc. As long as he's continually brought on the right way, stays focused and has no health issues there's no reason he shouldn't be a superstar.

He is coming along so fast its hard to comprehend, even though so many of us expected it. Really, since he was benched for repeatedly stepping out of bounds he has been an actual factor for other teams to deal with, in all aspects of the game! We got so unbelievably lucky in last years draft ... boy oh boy.

Should finish his second season with very similar stats to second season 23 year old Sid Moncrief. :nod: It's really not a bad comp when you get over the physical and likely defensive positional differences.

Imagine a 7'0 James Harden on offense and a Scottie Pippen on defense.

Season has only started and there is no need to throw stats around from such a small sample.
