not being able to recruit WR's will definitely hurt the team making the Final Four again.

Unless you are running a passing offense (like Purdue has at times) or are top 10 football schools like Michigan or Ohio State - you just are not ever going to get many if any 5 star recruits at WR or QB at UW the possible exception would be if the player is in-state and wants to stay close to home.

It just makes NO sense for the top recruits at WR or QB to go to UW. Wont happen - they key in on the big farm boys in WI and stuff the O-Line. It makes sense for RBs to choose UW because of their style of play and the history or UW churning out quite a few who have gone on to the NFL. Top recruits are hoping to go NFL and want to go to a team that will put them in the best position to do that.

** The ONLY exceptions to what I have said was when Alvarez was there they had a high school coach in Bedford Ohio that had a connection with UW- Chambers and Evans both went to that school. Chambers was allowed to play on the UW basketball team- he played backup Guard his Frosh year.

Andersen just got about 5 WRs in this class, several of them right on the 3/4 star border. Verdict is out on what they will actually be, but it's not impossible.

3 STAR recruits are nothing. Tell me who the 4 STAR recruits are at WR are and where they rank overall at WR?

UW is NEVER going to have a top 20 recruiting class. They have to concentrate on what they do well- recruit big white kids in-state (1st and 2nd tier) and land a top 25 RB or two (1st or 2nd tier). Get a game manager QB (3rd or 4th tier), and fill out the rest of the team with good solid (2nd tier and 3rd tier) players.

ESPN's top 300 players for the 2014 class:

UW's top recruit doesn't come till #141 Jaden Gault OT Wisconsin kid. THAT IS IT! Pretty pathetic. With about 30% of the 2015 top 300 class signed - UW - ZERO recruits.

The Badgers are what they are- a very well organized program that concentrates on their core competencies. They will almost NEVER get a top QB or WR recruit out of High School. Chambers and Evans were exceptions at WR because of the affiliation their Head Coach in Ohio had with UW at the time. I wasn't a fan of Brett (thought he pissed on UW), but it's not like it was a problem he had. Anderson can tell a WR recruit they have a good chance to come in and play right away - still isn't getting top tier recruits because top WRs don't want to play for a run oriented team, with game manager QB, and in cold weather.

Yes, we know what they are. Watch it and book it, though, that they've made more of a concerted effort to get skill players in.

It's going to be interesting to see how the offense evolves under Anderson given the type of quarterbacks he's been recruiting. Gillis is a dual threat type of QB and so is Austin Kafentzis for the 2015 class. Anderson clearly wants a more athletic QB than we've seen in the past at Wisconsin except for Wilson.

Can't believe how off topic this thread has gotten.

Less than enthused on this becoming a college football thread.

They offered Pritzl a few days back, to get it back on topic.

Billy Wampler also visited the campus earlier this week but did not receive an offer.

I don't think there are a ton of people disagreeing. I've seen a few people say they think Marquette has an outside chance but no one who really believed he was staying in state.

The few people I've talked to have also said Stone has his hand out looking for money. Wisconsin ain't happening.

Yeah I know. I was just restating the obvious, I guess. Wish he had more home state pride.

I think people from here are just used to the Butlers', Gaines', Tokoto's, and Stone's of the world going elsewhere. It's basically expected.

No kidding. Especially considering that Newman isn't even being recruited by UW or Marquette. They'll probably end up at Kentucky if this package deal thing is for real.

It's too bad the Badgers can't/won't make a run at Stephen Zimmerman, a legit 7 footer in Stone's recruiting class. Currently playing out here at Las Vegas Bishop Gorman, same high school as Shabazz Muhammad.

Zimmerman has a game tailor made for the Badgers playstyle.

The Badgers very much in play for Ellenson and Sharma. If they get one of them I'll be very happy. If they get both I'll be ecstatic.

Hard to imagine wisconsin pulling an out - of - region kid with offers from every blue blood other than Duke.

Cool cool cool

I saw that too. He seems like Ben Brust 2.0 so this looks like good news to me.
