Giannis playing for Bucks summer league & Greece FIBA

Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo had been having a disagreement with his home country of Greece over his participation in various national team tournaments this summer. But EuroHoops.net reports that the situation has been resolved.

That's why Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Greek federation and Milwaukee Bucks agreed in a formula that seems to be a win-win situation for every one involved.

The Greek forward will not be a member of the Greek U20 national team in the upcoming Eurobasket, which will be held at the island of Crete between 8 and 20 of July, in order to play in the Las Vegas Summer League with the Bucks at the 11th of July.

After that, the “Greek freak” will return to Greece and will take part in the training camp of the senior Greek national team which will compete in the upcoming FIBA World Cup in Spain. Antetokounmpo will have to fight for a place in the final roster and his performance during the camp, which will be held at Karpenisi, Greece, will decide his fate.

via From Las Vegas to Spain 2014 | Eurohoops.

Greece typically fields a strong team, and the first ever World Cup should bring a little more excitement, even if it's not much of a change from the previous FIBA tournament. The bigger key for NBA fans is him working at Summer League. Antetokounmpo needs to work on almost all of his skills and Summer League provides a place for him to take on different roles the team will need, specifically as they move forward after their No. 2 draft selection in June.

It would be good to see the youngster work on his ball-handling in pick and roll sets and develop as more of a passer to combine with that incredible length of his.

Awesome. Really excited he'll be playing with Wolters/#1 pick.

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.

Love that he stuck it to the NT in order to play for the Bucks.

Awesome. Can you imagine a summer league team that featured Wolters, Giannis, and Embiid?

I know he recognizes himself as a Greek citizen but you wonder if it's less of a big deal to him with the way the country has handled him in the past.

Good to see Giannis recognize the need for him to play in Bucks summer league.

The best part about all of this is the experience and development Giannis can go thru this summer.

We could have a new & improved Giannis in the fall. :)

I already saw pics of him working out with Thanasis. He's getting ripped.

Realistically, what kind of numbers are we expecting Giannis to put up next season?

10-12 ppg, 6rpg 3-4apg with a block and a steal with less than 1.5 TO per game on 28-30 mpg would make me happy

Worst case, 25 PPG, 15 RPG, 6 BPG

He was 10/6/3 per 36 this season so 15/7/5 would be exciting IMO.

That was reasonable and expected, him playing everything in the summer would be too much. Would be interesting to see if he can make it to the World Cup team.

13-15ppg per 36 yeah
One more fg, one more rebound and 1.5 more assists per 36 seems viable. But the main thing i wanted to see was the 1 TO less per game and an improvment in efficiency

I'm not particularly interested in his stats. I just want to see a more consistent jump shot, getting bigger, and as mentioned before less turnover.

You'd hope this season is essentially a throw away so I just need to see some improvement in his game. Even if the stats don't necessarily reflect it.

I typically think watching Summer League games is really stupid but I'm looking forward to watching the Summer League team this year.
