PHI will be lucky to win 10 games next year.

Actually, that's not true.

In order for a team to keep the rights to a second round pick, they must submit to the player the required tender, which is a one year contract at the rookie minimum salary. It can be (and almost always is) completely non-guaranteed.

If they haven't already given him a required tender, the deadline for doing so is September 6th, or he becomes an unrestricted free agent immediately.

If they give him the required tender and he chooses not to sign it, THEN the clock starts on the process you refer to.

I do also find it puzzling that he would be ok with just taking an NBADL contract instead this year BUT, he might believe that if he were to insist on wanting to sign an NBA contract with the Knicks, the Knicks would choose cut ties with him, owing him $0, making him a UFA, while also believing that another NBA team wouldn't sign him.

Still, he's got NBADL money waiting for him either way. Maybe he believes that doing this good deed for the Knicks will increase their likelihood of giving him an NBA contract next season, or even later this season if they make a trade that opens up a roster spot. If I'm his agent, I'm not playing along with this. Another NBA team will take a flyer on him.

I love Thanasis but lets not pretend that his summer league stats lit the word on fire

I give him points though for not giving up Fats Bennett.

From a value standpoint, he's getting Wiggins, Bennett and Thad Young for Love. On a relative basis, that is a haul of talent, and it isn't like the typical 3 for 1 deal, where the 3 never equal the one. Wiggins is a massive prospect from both a skills standpoint and marketing standpoint. I consider that trade even if Kevin Love didn't want to get out of my town.

I'd rather have Miami's pick than Bennett.

I'm a sucker for pedigrees. Fats being the #1 overall appeals to me and was intrigued by him in summer league. Personally I'd take that over what likely is a Miami pick that is going to be about 17-19 range most likely.

I'd rather have Bennett than Miami's 1st. I'm not sold on them, but I still think that pick is 17-20. I

A pick 17-20 is worth a lot more to me than Bennett at his salary. Bennett has played like a pick in that range, will be the age of a college senior this year, and will make 5 times as much money.

I think it's possible that the Thad trade is not so much win now but more of a picking up an asset for cheap. There have been rumors all summer that they've been looking to dump Moute and Shved, and the 6ers have already proven that you can be really bad with Thad, I think whether they try hard to move him at the deadline or not will show what kind of intentions they had here. It's possible that the Miami 1st ends up being pretty late, even without Lebron.

In what way is that clear? No games have been played and he didn't play SL last year.

Phoenix has offered Minnesota a deal that includes Bledsoe in order to get Love.

If Phoenix really want to I think they could offer a package that beats anything Cleveland could offer.

It comes back to those 3 for 1 trades I mentioned above. I'm not sure anything outside of a top 10 NBA player can beat the Wiggins asset. I love Bledsoe but take Wiggins over him 10/10 times.

Wiggins may not pan out as hoped, but right now he's a ridiculously valuable asset, not only as a potential player but as someone exciting to market to your fans. Minny should thank the basketball gods this Wiggins thing bailed them out on the mess with Love they created.

If Minnesota is content to be bad and rebuild then yea I'm sticking with Wiggins and Bennett. If they wanted to build an interesting young potential playoff team Phoenix has the assets to make that happen.

I'd still probably bet on the unknown of Wiggins and hope he isn't simply hype.

How in the world can Phoenix make Minnesota a playoff team?

Wiggins is just worth way more than Bledsoe, you have to pay Bledsoe and he is coming off a serious injury. I think Bennett and Miami 1st/Young is closer to Bledsoe's value in a S&T than Wiggins.

If they let Thad walk then yea, that's terrible. They could still trade him.

Trade him for what? 6ers have been trying to move him for a year. I bet they extend him.
