Larry Sanders' Restoration and Redemption

Post#1 » by BuckHole » Fri Aug 8, 2014 3:46 am

Can we dream of what Larry Sanders may be this upcoming year? The start of the season is 82 days away and I'm pumped up! I'm dreaming of seeing glimpses of greatness, some decent team play, and some things that brings hope to this franchise's fans. I'm excited for Larry (as well as Giannis and Jabari) to return to form and build on his not-long-ago prowess.

This is exhibit #1:

Exhibit #2:

Another Exhibit:

He's got a ton of haters for his mistake riddled season, but I think we need to forgive, get excited, and consider him as a player on the cusp of something special. As they say, "hope springs eternal." Let's get past the past, empty the cup, and embrace the future and watch some great highlights...from the past. ...Now who's with me!!!

100th Percentile for impact on the opposition's eFG% over the last three seasons.

Defensive Adjusted Plus/Minus split of 11.5 from 2011-12 through 2012-13. More than 2 points ahead of No. 2, Kevin Garnett.

A 10.64 split from 2012-13 through 2013-14. More than 2.5 ahead of No. 2, Bassy Telfair (Small Sample Size), more than 3 ahead of Garnett, more than 4 ahead of Birdman and Noah, 5 ahead of Howard, Gasol, Splitter and Asik, with defensive RAPM splits in-line with those names.

He's always come across as so much more intelligent and genuine than he acted last year. Really hope he is able to pull himself together.

He always came across like that in interviews, which is so weird that once his anger comes out it really changes him. He is truly a real version of the hulk.

Yeah, and like I said it seems completely genuine, which makes his behavior all the more disappointing. I really hope he can get his act together because he really does seem like someone who could be a positive influence.

I still think Sanders is the top defensive big in the game when he's right. His agility and length combination is pretty incredible, and he has the advanced defensive stats to back up that claim. He's the biggest key to our season and it really isn't close.
