Zaza Looking Solid in Helping Georgia Advance in Eurobasket

Post#1 » by Pachulia » Fri Aug 29, 2014 7:58 am

Zaza helped Georgia eke by in Group E and advance to Eurboasket 2015. Zaza had 15, 10, and 9 in their clinching win over Portugal.

He was also the 6th-leading scorer (17.5) in the six-game qualifying round. Teletovic led all scorers with 26.3 per game, and Omri Casspi was 3rd (19 ppg). Zaza was also 3rd in ORPG, 4th in fouls drawn per game (6.2). Though, because it is Zaza he was also #1 in fouls and #2 in turnovers.

Overall, he dominated the way he should against non-NBA players, with a little bit of goofy and a lot a bit of awkward thrown in. But it looks like he will be in great shape for next season.

Another player that gets a bad wrap around here.

Zaza is a quality big off the bench. Just not good enough for prolonged stretches as a starter.

Obviously a team such as ours doesn't really need a guy like Zaza at his price but he was acquired with our win now mandate from Kohl. He is the type of C that a team that is ready to compete needs to round out the roster. Not a team trying to find itself.

I would trade him for the above reasons, but I do like him and have no issue if he winds up with us next season.

Glad to hear he's playing well!

if he made $3 million instead of $5 million a year everyone would love him!

For the record I like his veteren presence reguardless of what he makes.

I don't mind him being here. Not that I wouldn't dump him in a Dudley-type deal in a heartbeat but I think he's okay with being an emergency backup and he's a good influence on Giannis.

he has no off hand. how in the world a 7 foot center that can't use both hands around the basket makes it to the nba is unbelievable to me. Now maybe he just had something wrong with his left hand the night I watched him but he had at least 2 or 3 shots/put backs blocked because he did use his off hand. yikes!

Out of all the guys I want traded from this team Zaza is the least among them.

Like Chapter29 said above, nothing wrong with the dude, he's just not needed on our team at this time.

Glad to see he is playing well.

Compared to other players on this team ? Not really.

I'd find it hard to believe the majority of posters don't have this same opinion.

Who says he sucks?

The main issue most have here is if assuming Larry starts at center, we'd much rather see a young guy like Henson get nearly all of those backup minutes than a vet with no upside left.

Zaza seems like a good fit for the Spurs. He can pass the ball and would allow them to give Duncan the rest he needs during the regular season.
