I didn't see any of the game. Does Mayo look like he's in better condition than the end of last season, and (by the way it sounds), was he even mentally in the game?

He's definitely in better condition. He didn't seem to be trying very hard on defense, but its the pre season and vets often don't put a lot of effort in there so its hard to say. I expected more given how last season went for him, and that unlike most veteran guys who dog it in the early pre season, he probably isn't guaranteed a lot of minutes.

Thanks. Mayo is a puzzlement to me, in that he's got as much of his future riding on how he does this season as anybody on the team. He has to have lost a lot of luster last year for many GM's with his terrible conditioning and seriously uninspiring play. He's a guy I would have thought would come to camp fired up, even if he's auditioning to get flipped to another team.

Like you say though, it's real early yet....

Should've taken Thanasis.

Why? He's not even going to be in the NBA

His jumper has been worse than advertised. His D may be worse than advertised. Everything else is better than advertised, IMO.

I don't know where that ever came from. Outside of the first week of games when he was hot, he was a bad shooter. I think people looked at the volume numbers and assumed he could shoot, but he cooled off quickly at Duke. It wasn't until he started playing center and taking advantage of guys down low that his scoring took off again.

I think Jabari's going to be incredible offensively and I'm very impressed. But I'm expecting some brutal efficiency numbers this season.

Because he'd bring more intensity, discipline, commitment etc. than it seems JO'B will and at that roster slot, he seems much more valuable. Just because he's going to play for the Knicks d-league affiliate doesn't mean the Bucks couldn't have made him the 12-15th* man (where I picture Johnny landing).

Not at all. I just find it hysterical you think pointing out that Jabari was inefficient in any way equates to hating or "u mad". I'm amused by how over-sensitive you are.

But, fear not, this will be our last communication.

Hopefully Johnny O'Bryant spends lots of time helping the Mad-Ants in their quest for a title repeat.

Well at least we won the battle of the Brandons.

And Middleton.

Would love to see him get 5+ threes a night. And if the defense doesn't help off him, there's more room for Giannis/Jabari/Guard X penetrating.

It's entirely probable he'll end up the most useful player out of that deal.

Hell, I'd rather give him 4/40 than Knight.

Ran into Billy McKinney tonight at the Palace. Had a very interesting conversation...a couple highlights:

1. Asked about Knight and his insistence on being a PG. His response..."we still need a PG."

2. When asked who he thought would surprise us this year... he mentioned John Henson first and said he had put a lot of work in this summer and was looking really good. Expects him to be a much better contributor. Also was really high on both second round picks. J.O.B. especially.

3. Mentioned that Inglis might not be back until December. I may have heard this wrong but my lady insisted he said DECEMBER. Thought he was going to be back much sooner than that.

4. Sounds like they expect to be bad this year and want another high draft pick... but I think we all knew that.

That's about what I have with Billy...another nice guy much like Hammond. Very cordial and came right over when he saw the Fear The Deer playoff towel.

As for the game...meh. I was close to the players tunnel on the Pistons side and slapped hands with the players...BJ included. Saw Caron Butler hanging out in a suit with the Pistons. Gave him a shout out as he was mowing down a hot dog, lol.

Sanders...still has sauce pans for hands. Giannis seemed to be the only one trying hard & Middleton quite possibly might be our best player at the current moment. Other than that a scary fall for Giannis that he seemed to bounce back from ok.

I flirted with the Pistons cheerleaders & gave a fat limping Rick Mahorn a high five... good times.
