JOB may be the worst ball stopper I have ever seen. OJ was lazy in the first half and spend the 2nd half trying to chuck his way into the rotation.
I didn't see any of the game. Does Mayo look like he's in better condition than the end of last season, and (by the way it sounds), was he even mentally in the game?
He's definitely in better condition. He didn't seem to be trying very hard on defense, but its the pre season and vets often don't put a lot of effort in there so its hard to say. I expected more given how last season went for him, and that unlike most veteran guys who dog it in the early pre season, he probably isn't guaranteed a lot of minutes.
Thanks. Mayo is a puzzlement to me, in that he's got as much of his future riding on how he does this season as anybody on the team. He has to have lost a lot of luster last year for many GM's with his terrible conditioning and seriously uninspiring play. He's a guy I would have thought would come to camp fired up, even if he's auditioning to get flipped to another team.
Like you say though, it's real early yet....
