I love the Beach House sound but every album just feels like a slight variation on the previous albums. Don't get me wrong, I will keep listening to the new album a bunch but at this point it feels a little lazy. Like they are just mailing it in.

Anyone else get that feeling?

Her whole album is great.

I really like her. She's so creative, distinctive, obviously devoted to her craft, and has such a cute yet haunting voice.

Heyyy this is only sort of related. For all of you other guitar players out there, I found this kind of cool site called http://play.riffstation.com/ You basically type in any song that's on youtube anywhere and an algorithm figures it out and puts the chords underneath while the video plays. It's not always right, but it's still in beta.

Yeah. They're so known for their sound...I guess how varied can you get with it? I'd have rather they tried to step outside of the box and try something new.

Worked for Mumford :shrugs:

Big Grams (Big Boi and Phantograms collab) just shared their first single. Really looking forward to this album:

I ditched Spotify for a couple weeks to go back and listen to my iTunes library and I've been enjoying the hell out of it. On a NUFAN kick today. These guys were incredible.

1989 by Ryan Adams is better than the original Taylor Swift version.

Apparently he just finished a new double album of original work too. The guy is a machine.

I'm not much of a pop fan (I find most of it garbage, but do like or love a song here or there), but 1989 was quite excellent. The Ryan Adams cover is great from what I have heard so far. I think Bad Blood is my favorite.

I also heard that he did a cover album of The Strokes - Is This It, and that it never got released. And that makes me sad.

I'm kind of stunned by how much I like 1989. Never liked Taylor Swift (like, at all) and was never able to really get into Ryan Adams despite trying a few times. For whatever reason, the formula on 1989 works really well for me.

Have you ever heard "Love is Hell?" That's probably the most similar to this album musically. His albums are all over the place in style.

That is one I haven't but when I was listening to 1989 and I saw that album title, I was intrigued. I tend to like melancholic music and I figure if Ryan Adams can turn a pop album in a fairly depressing experience, an album titled Love is Hell might be up my alley. I'll check it out.

It's because the songwriting on 1989 is just actually stellar in some cases. The whole top 40 sparkling pop production sound turns a lot of people off instantly and they aren't able to truly see the genius behind the songs. But when the style changes to something more 'relatable' I guess then people come around.

And honestly some of the cover versions really aren't good, but when the song you're covering is phenomenal (like blank space for example) you can just let it carry you.

I think that's legit.

I've actually really liked Taylor Swift since her first album, but the last two have turned me off because of how massively produced they sound. It took an album of Ryan Adams covers to make me appreciate the quality of her writing again.

The Ryan Adams version is just a Taylor Swift album from five or seven years ago.

I might like it more than their first album, although I do with they kind of wish they branched out a bit more. It very much sounds like that album.
