Put Antetokounmpo on Rose

Post#1 » by amcfad27 » Sat Apr 25, 2015 3:39 am

Bulls fan here just have been thinking lately why don't you guys just put Antetokounmpo, your best defender, on Rose. MCW in turn guards the Bulls 3 which is either Dunleavy or Snell which isn't really a mismatch given MCW's height.

Miami put Lebron on Rose and basically shut him down a few years ago.

Food for thought...

This is one of those things that I'm positive wouldn't work but I really want to see anyways. Giannis would get torched, but **** it, let him try..for a couple possessions.

I'd much rather him at PF and C.

Not sure why you think Giannis is our best defender. He's probably our worst (besides the d-leaguers I wont count) in terms of opponents shooting %. He's decent but he's still raw even on the defensive end

Rose playing at this level is a tough cover for anyone but Giannis doesn't have the lateral quickness to cover the fastest pg's. He could cover MCW or guys at his speed but not the insanely fast guys. Giannis can cover most 2-4's really well and light 5's like Henson.

Well Giannis is better than Lebron, so I don't see why not.

If you do that, giannis will be benched with 2 fouls early on.

Wow. The OP clearly is watching this series on TV.

The Bucks don't have any one defender assigned to anyone on the Bulls. They are playing a swarming switching defense that requires a high degree of mobility from everyone. They don't defend as much as they funnel - constantly overplaying the ball to force the offense into positions that make it more difficult to swing the ball to the weak side. Think of the last defensive stand in game 4. Bayless was on Rose and the moment Rose started to penetrate, Dudley and Mayo came up to wall off any chance Rose had to get inside. When Rose wheeled away from those three defenders, Middleton swiped the ball.

The Bucks players involved in that play were not assigned to Rose. They defended in reaction to what Rose and the Bulls did. This has been going on all series. Without the constant double team pressure, the Bulls would be winning in blowouts.
