Jimmy butler or Kris Middleton

Post#1 » by bigbucksfan1234 » Sat Apr 25, 2015 7:11 pm

I was listening to the big show yesterday and they asked the question would you rather sign butler or Middleton this off-season. I'm going with Middleton because I think he's a little cheaper and younger plus I love Middleton's fit with this team. What do you guy xxx think

To correct the OP, the question was Middleton at 8-10 mil per year or Butler at the max.

I think Middleton at half the cost is the obvious answer.

Middleton for half the price easily, but we're not getting Middleton for half the price. We're getting Middleton for the max

I'll take Butler, even though he is two years older. I don't think Middleton will ever develop the aggressive driving Butler has. Middleton has really impressed me with his big plays and passing though. Does he improve much more though?

I think we can all agree that he will get somewhere between 8-max. Anything beyond that is just guessing. I get why we have the discussion, I just thought it was funny seeing such definitive statements back to back like that.

He isn't getting 8 million. He's a RFA, there will be 25 teams in the NBA who are willing to give him 8 mil a year. The lowest I could see us getting him for is 12 million. But there will be one team that will give him the max, because the max now will be decent starters earnings in a few years. Teams are going to spend money this offseason.

8M is laughable for Middleton at this point. Definitely getting 8 figures, and more likely that it's closer to the max than it is 10M. I think we will, or at least should, match no matter what he gets.

Butler it's not close. Just look at what he's done to Middleton head up. Middleton is a good shooter but not consistent. He's a solid scorer but not elite. He is an ok defender but not great. Butler is all of those qualities and better at all of them on a way way more consistent basis.

Middleton is a great shooter in every sense of the word, and a great defender by every metric. He actually has been better than Butler on defense this season, you can even ask Bulls fans that and they will agree with me. They all admit he has regressed quite a bit on that end since improving his offensive game. If you think Middleton is an "inconsistent" shooter, then every shooter in the NBA is inconsistent outside of Curry

I know I only quoted part of what you had to say, but I want to address this specifically...

The cap is going to be so freaking high, does it even matter? That's an actual question - not rhetorical. And it's more so a larger conversation about the cap than a discussion of these two players.

There's gonna be so much cap room, I think you just take Butler if you could somehow just have him over Mids. Who cares if it's twice the price.

I don't really watch a lot of Bulls basketball but if were getting the Jimmy Butler from this series at the max, I'd take him in a second over Middleton.
