Trade Question - Ersan

Post#1 » by fishercob » Fri May 15, 2015 6:32 pm

Hello Bucks fans. I didn't see a dedicated trade thread; apologies if I am putting this in the wrong place.

What would it take for the Wizards to acquire Ersan?

Thanks.

I'm a Wizards fan, and I've wanted him for years -- he fits well with our team. I can't speak for the front office, but I think they are finally seeing the benefit of the team playing with a Stretch 4.

Wall

Seriously?

How about Martell Webster + your #19 pick this year for Ersan?

Not sure how to make it work with the Wizards given your salary set up.

OK, help me out a little bit more.

Our guys who we could deal that would make the salaries work include Kris Humphries, Garrett Temple, Dajuan Blair and Martell Webster.

Are you int he market for a physical backup big? Wing shooter?

Very few in this forum value Ersan.

I think the realistic best case scenario for the Bucks would be a 3 team deal with the Bucks getting nothing back, or a 2nd round pick in 2036, or something like that. I don't think the Bucks would be interested in swapping anyone in for similar salary. Maybe since he has 2 years, if there is anyone with only 1 year on their deal where the salaries matched.

A lot of Bucks fans don't value Ersan's skills very highly anymore.

He works hard all the time and is apparently well thought of by his teammates.

However, He's consistently inconsistent for performance. Usually at the beginning of the season, he's more off than on. Historically, he has often picked up after the break - but not so much this year. When he does get hot, he's real useful, it's just not happening as often.

Only $400k is guaranteed in his final year. I don't see a deal that makes sense with the Wiz really

I get all that. I've followed him pretty closely for the past few years. Considering how well he did playing off a Jennings/Sanders pick and roll, I think he'd be very valuable playing off of Wall and Gortat with Beal, Porter, Pierce etc spacing the floor.

A lot of people on this board are angry with ersan for a lot reason some justified some unjustified. I would trade ersan for the 19th pick or a future first the wizards would have to throw in something eles to make salaries match but I dont know what

This is from Zach Lowe;s column today, "Milwaukee might be further enticed if it could find a third team to take Ersan Ilyasova, but they view him as a trade asset, while a team taking Ilyasova into cap space would want a treat for their participation."

He was trying to come up with a trade to get Taj Gibson on the Bucks. Even a divide in how front offices view Ersan's value.

I think Martell Webster would be a reasonable trade. Nice shooter coming off the bench. Viable threat at the 2 which we don't have outside of Midz (stop giving backup SG mins to Bayless, et al). Owed less money, a few years younger. And I think the Wiz would be more than happy to dump him as they were playing Rasual over him all year. I think we would get a 2nd as well.

I'd do Martell and our second for Ersan. we'd have to throw in Garrett Temple to make the salaries work.

Pretty sure OJ Mayo was our backup 2 all season.

Depending on the deal Martell has, that ends up being more salary that we are taking on then to just keep Ersan and treat him as an expiring.

I think a pure cap space move where we didn't have to give up assets - though I don't think we will have a ton of takers
Or, a salary swap where we take on more years/$ and an exchange of picks...a second really isn't worth doing a deal as we would add to our SF glut and take on another player in Temple when we are already way over roster size. At least when Ersan is on he adds a lot of value to this team.

Webster/Temple/19 for Ersan/Clippers 2017 1st rounder?
