Embiid's ongoing foot injury: http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/238428/76ers-Legitimately-Concerned-About-Joel-Embiids-Right-Foot

Even up to the day of the draft, I wavered on the prospect of the Bucks picking Embiid. If he's ever right again, he could have been the best outcome for the Bucks (or anyone). Stuff like the ongoing problem with his foot, make him look more like the lost career of Greg Oden.

The interesting thing is that he claims he feels fine, but the MRI is showing the bone didn't properly heal.

The question is do they just tell him to start playing next fall until it breaks again or do they go in and try to surgically repair it, which puts him out another year.

Shame that it looks more and more that Embiid won't get the chance to have much of an impact on the league (unless by some miracle that he fully heals from all his ills and can maintain health). I never felt comfortable with taking a gamble on him v. Jabari/Wiggins, but he was intriguing.

Oh well, just means Sixers fans get to enjoy a few more years of roster building and asset management.

The Embiid news is pretty catastrophic for Philly, don't really know how you can downplay it. Okafor's a really good prospect, but Embiid was their only potential superstar prospect IMO. Even assuming Saric comes over next season, that leaves them with a logjam in their front court, and Noel is pretty much gonna end up being the odd man out.

After two years of historic tanking, call me unimpressed by the talent the Sixers have been able to scrap together. They have zero guard prospects, and a projected 2016 lineup of Canaan?, Robert Covington, Hollis Thompson, Saric, Okafor, and whatever 2016 lottery pick they add doesn't make me believe they're any better set for the future then say Orlando or Boston.

I truly believe that the 76ers went out of their way to get bigs and non contributing foreigners first as they take the longest to develop.

For all the accusations they have not had the leagues worst record either of the last two seasons and picked at #3 last year in a two man draft and #3 this year in a 3 man draft (and clearly had to take Okafor IMO).

I mean how do you eschew best player available for...Mudiaye? Who did people want Philly to take (same with NYK by the way)?

I've been saying it forever, Embiid is done. This isn't an injury that will get better with age, if you're already having multiple stress fractures in your foot and back at age 21 then how is it going to be a few years from now? He's put on weight and unsurprisingly his foot hasn't healed as expected. Bodies this big break down much faster, the wear and tear takes a heavy toll.

Embiid is Oden, Oden is Embiid.

No mention of the reports Knight signing for 70/5? I think its amazing that Midz is going to get more than Knight when its all said and done.

Edit: its the right way for it to all play out. But when it happened we were talking about how much cheaper it was going to be to keep Middleton and I don't think thats going to happen at all.

I always maintained there was such a thing as leaving the cupboard too empty and that's what Philly was doing.

It could all turn around if Embiid comes back and plays 10 healthy years, but that's looking less likely which genuinely makes me sad because I wanted to see what he would become.

As Mr. Swanson has pointed out, we're on year three of trying to lose, right? After 3 years, they don't appear to have anything that will build a playoff team in the sad, sad eastern conference, let alone a contender. That's not good asset management or tanking or whatever you want to call it.

I know, it could still work, but it's hard to see how.

Besides Okafor dropping the jersey seemingly in disgust, the guy in the lower left corner...great reaction.

Well, I guess it's reading into the body language, but the way he throws the jersey down and walks away doesn't scream "I'M HAPPY TO BE HERE!"

If I'm Philly I'd be trading Noel ASAP. Get a wing or pg while his value is high. He made it through last year but his knee is still a major concern and with the embiid news I don't think Philly can afford to take the risk he hurts it again.

I feel bad..but I find this funny after all the arguments I've had with all of you last year about embiid.

They could use a young scorer. A Rashad Vaughn type player perhaps?
