I honestly don't think I've played any JRPG for more than an hour. I don't really count FFXV because how much they Westernized it, and I don't count SRPG's like FF: Tactics or Fire Emblem. Would Vagrant Story count? Because that's probably the closest, I guess.

Glowing reviews of Persona 5 (had to be the longest ever review on Kotaku) make me think I owe it to myself to give it a shot. But I've never been into anime style anything.

I'm right there with you, I've been watching the amazing reviews just roll in and it's tempting me. Does Skies of Arcadia on Dreamcast count as a JRPG? I loved that. But since then haven't played any.

Skies counts, yeah. The largest determinant is if the combat is turn based. From there, there are different variations. Not a steadfast rule, but probably covers 95% of games.

I preordered. There was a cool steel case available if you preorder for no extra charge, so why not. Really need to crank through HZD, now. I'm bad at coming back to games, so don't want to start P5 until I'm done with HZD.

I've always been blown away by the art direction at Atlus.

Funny, but I'm in the same boat regarding Persona. Never been that into JRPGs outside of the SNES, but the reviews are hooking me. Plus, I'm ready to drop Andromeda. I preordered too.

The new update to Zelda that came out yesterday fixes the framerate problems a bit.

Regarding MLB The Show, I've only been doing RTTS so far, but the big difference I see gameplay wise are:
- way more realistic hit paths/better hit variety
- improved fielding and pitching animations

Regard the control schemes, the thing I like about MLB is they give you the option to use whatever control system you want. I hate the default pitching mechanism; I use meter. I know some are huge fans of the zone hitting mechanism while I am not. Regarding base running, it's pretty simple with the analog stick. Push it up to run forwards and down to run backwards.

Vet. It's absurd the number of hours I've played since this franchise came out. Just got the bump to AAA.

Finally pulled the trigger and picked up a PS4 this weekend. Got the Show of course and so far so good. The RTTS mode is much more interactive than in the past.

Interesting....I have a 1070 and an i5 7600 that I'd love to use for this purpose. Would love to run that at max settings and 144hz

Finished Horizon this weekend and it's easily a top 5 all time game for me. Incredible world and I can't wait to go back to it.

Now, on to Persona 5.

Anybody playing MLB The Show.

Have they not put out an updated opening day roster yet? I don't have Thames (and few others) on the Brewers roster.

Also, I created Thames, and had to put him in FA pool. But how can I get him on my roster? (playing quick games, not RTTS) When I go to FA's, he's not there. If I go to RTS show, then I see him.

Are you loading the same roster in both versions? And yeah, I've been checking and haven't seen any updates rosters yet for the Brewers.

I played P5 most of the night because the Bucks were an abortion and I chose a new game over Brewers.

Good times. Am going to enjoy this I think. Combat will hopefully get a little deeper, but good so far. Interesting story for sure. Not sold on the cat character and the voice acting is so very anime and cheesy, so that will take some getting used to. But this will be a good one.

Going to play a couple days, but then turn back to HZD to finish things off.

P5 for me is weird. It's basically been universally lauded, called a great point for new people to jump on board, and yet I can't find a single thing that would make me pick it up and play. A lot of the things that apparently make the series what it is and what people love simply sound awful to me.

There's something nice about coming back to a mindless Ubisoft game. I haven't had much of a desire to do a ton of gaming over the last couple weeks because of how much what I've played seems to demand. So firing up Wildlands for the first time and just being allowed to creep along a massive countryside killing at a nice, leisurely pace is pretty great. Rented (should have bought) Hitman tonight for the same purpose.
