OT: Collins Is New Bulls Coach

Post#1 » by europa » Thu May 29, 2008 4:07 pm

A friend of mine emailed me this today but I couldn't believe it was true but it's being confirmed in the Bulls forum now. In a word ...

Wow.

Interesting hire for a young team in my opinion. Out of Carlisle, Skiles, D'Antoni, and Collins, he is easily fourth on that list in my opinion.

I thought he was adamant about NOT coaching. He must have really hated the Bucks offer/situation when it was presented to him.

Herb must feel totally betrayed right about now.

His diary entry today is entitled "The one that got away". I've never seen so much chasing.

Word is he'll be the coach for about 2 years and one of the many guys we're interviewing will be top assistant and heir to the HC spot.

I'm thinking Hornacek who Pax apparently talked to for 5 hours.

That was exactly my thought. A decent talent base in a big city getting the #1 pick.

And this was the coach I wanted. Wonder why he wouldn't come here?

Lakers vs. Boston in the finals and Collins coaching the Bulls. It's deja vu all over again.

Um, haven't the Bulls been there and done that with Collins before? Are they gonna bring back Charles Oakley, Jordan, and Brad Sellers as well?!

I hope for the Bulls' sake their No. 1 pick turns out to be a lot better than the last one Collins had. ;)

That was Jordon's pick, not Collins.

As if I needed another reason to hate the Bulls... :nonono:

Collins turned down offers to take over the Milwaukee franchise in the summer of 2005 and again last month before the Bucks hired John Hammond as general manager and Scott Skiles as coach.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two years later, the Bulls began their run of six championships in eight seasons. Reinsdorf, according to a source, sent Collins championship rings to acknowledge his work in getting the Bulls close.

Collins is not the Bulls coach yet, Im watching Mike and Mike in the mourning right now and they are talking about it. Anyway I would hire Avery in a sec.

As for the topic at hand, I didn't really expect this. I thought Collins was done coaching and that the Bulls would look at someone else.
