06/23 Chad Ford's Latest Mock

Post#1 » by carmelbrownqueen » Mon Jun 23, 2008 4:49 pm

Wow, check out Chad Ford's latest Mock Draft which has Kevin Love falling to 9. Here is the part on the Bucks:

The skinny: Alexander is a high energy forward who impressed GM John Hammond and new head coach Scott Skiles with his toughness and grit. That's exactly what the Bucks are going for right now. Hammond wants to change the culture in Milwaukee and Alexander has that capability. He also fits a need. The Bucks will be shopping Bobby Simmons (along with just about everyone else) hard this summer.

It sounds like Anthony Randolph is the other player the Bucks are looking at closely here. However, Randolph is further away than Alexander right now. Alexander is still a work in progress too, but if he figures things out he has a chance to be really special.

I don't agree that Love falls to 9, he goes 3, 4, or 5. Do agree with the rest though, and I do believe we draft Alexander at 8, assuming the Knicks don't take him for some reason.

He also mentions again that we have the best chance of grabbing Minny's pick if we offer up Yi or CV in a package.

Minny can have CV and a reasonable package if that is all it takes!

If we took Alexander ahead of Love, I'd stop following this team.

Somebody needs to get McHale as high as a kite on draft night. That is the only way I see even him taking CV/8 for 3.

In the second round he has us taking:

37. Milwaukee Bucks

Luc Richard Mbah a Moute | SF | UCLA
The Bucks want to keep adding toughness and Mbah a Moute has the potential to be an exceptional defender. He's not going to score a lot, but he can guard just about anyone.

Hmmmm... sounds familiar :D

I've liked Mbah a Moute for a long time. I wouldn't be upset at all if we picked him in the second, but it would depend on who else is left as well.

Yup. Unless it's something like CV/Sessions/8th/09 1st pick for garbage contract/3rd.

#8, CV and a 2009 top three protected first rounder for the #3.

Get it done.

McHale would have to consider it. He would have to make a bet on where the Bucks would end up next season. Unfortunately for us, I see us giving up a fairly high draft pick if we do trade that. I think that they like Brook Lopez, and he might be there at 8.

I have to think that this is more of a Larry Harris trade than a John Hammond trade, however.

I'm not sure what would surprise me more - Love falling to 9 or the Bucks taking Alexander ahead of him.

If there's any way the Bucks could trade Villanueva/8 for 3 I'd be all over it. I'd probably sign off on Yi/8 for 3 as well. No way do I want to include a future first for either Mayo or Love since I'm not sure either one of them will be a big-time superstar. The only way I want to see Hammond part with a future pick is if it brought back a proven big-time player.

If the Bucks passed on Love at 8 for Alexander, there would have to be a sacrifice.

why is chad ford so certain the wolves are interseted in CV? Yi I understand, but it seems like Ford believes CV's value to be higher than anyone this side of the Raptors realgm board.

Maybe he's factoring McHale's incompetence as a GM into the equation. Then it makes perfect sense.

I thought this was pretty interesting.

"The latest buzz has the Knicks talking to Memphis about a deal that would send David Lee and the expiring contract of Malik Rose to Memphis for No. 5 and Cardinal.

In other words, it sounds like GM Chris Wallace is, once again, being pushed by ownership to cut payroll. "

If this is all the Grizzlies are looking for for the 5 pick, I think we could easily beat that offer with either CV/8 or Dez/8. It obviously wouldn't be necessary in this scenario but if the bucks were high on Love or someone else likely to be there at 5 but not at 8 this wouldn't be very much to give up.

If Memphis likes a guy that NY isn't interested in then it makes sense for them to move back a spot and shed salary.

I doubt that the guy they want is available at #8, however.

I'd still offer out 8 and Gadz for David Lee-Rose.

The ideas of trading with memphis and minny can work if we send out dez and take back a bad deal.

Blech. Alexander is going to be better than Lee. Even losing Gadzuric's contract doesn't make that deal appealing.

If we're trading 8, it need not be for a role player. Package it to move up or land a guy better than Redd in a package. This team needs to add to the talent base, not acquire no ceiling role guys.
