Jeff Foster?

Post#1 » by PR07 » Mon Jun 30, 2008 4:51 am

Would you guys do a Jeff Foster and Shawne Williams for Charlie Villanueva and Desmond Mason swap?

I think Jeff Foster is definitely a Scott Skiles kind of guy. Tough, hard-nosed, and makes the little plays that help a team win...and one of the best defensive bigs in the NBA. Shawne Williams is talented with a smooth stroke, but he has kind of fallen out of favor in Indiana with some off the court issues and a glut of SF's.

I'd be all over that deal, and Jim O'brien could probably get more out of CV than anyone else so it probably works for the Pacers too.

Yeah, I'd do it. But Foster has a player option, did he exercise it or decline it?

More I look at Fosters stats. He's a beast on the boards. Thats what we need. Second chances. Besides steals and gets a block once in a while. Some games he was a beast many other was quiet on the block. Probably when JO was out. I think he would fit in nicely.

Ok, I'm trying to gauge value here. Would you do Foster and Stephen Graham for Villanueva and Mason?

that I prolly wouldnt do. CV and Mase are two nice assets to have just to move them for a older PF/C on a one year deal.

I am assuming that JH would need more back in this one than Graham.

If you gave him a fair market value contract, I think he'd resign. He loves Indiana, so I don't know why he wouldn't like a similar Midwestern city in Milwaukee.

Thats why im saying hes needs a extension to be with us. But I agree he fits in. For like a 3 year deal about what he's getting. Can board like wild sometime block like mad sometime then score alot sometimes. Hes our guy. No name blue collar guy. Fits in well. long as his extension of 3 seasons don't break us. I think 3 is perfect. Starter this year maybe next if he don't get beat out by Alexander. Then sweet bencher in retirement role.

Any way that we can include and athletic, high iq basketball player like Dan Gadzuric in this deal to take Foster's role with Indiana??

This trade is still good. Cause you got Mo as trade bait yet. If Foster can be extended or signed for next 3 seasons for 3 for $18 or 3 for $21 it be o'k.

Doubt they take Gadz unless we take Murphy. Which means Mo and Gads probably. Then we have over load atpf/c.

No Gadz, we have Rasho, Quis, and Foster coming off the books next season, looking to make a push at a significant FA. Can you guys give me a brief scouting report on Villanueva? I saw him play two years ago, and he used to tear up the Pacers with the Raptors, but I'm interesting to see if he's added anything to his game.

Very true....I actually have confidence that Hammond is going to be able to get rid of Gadz contract and get a valuable piece in return though. Who would have thought that any deal involving Bobby Simmons would have got us Richard Jefferson in return. We do still have valuable pieces with reasonable contracts to package with a Gadzuric to get another addition to this team.

This is a cold hearted trade. Gadz and Dez for Tinsley and Foster. Tinsley isn't our PG but oh well. Gadz is crap and Foster is better then Gadz. So its iffy but I do it. Still got CV to deal if we need to.

I wouldn't mind Foster at all if we could get him at a reasonable price. He is effin annoying on the boards and seems to have a knack for getting that back breaking offensive board and put back down the stretch in close games.

I guess I'd go ahead and do the Villanueva and Dez for Foster and Shawne Williams trade.
I'd rather make use of one or more of those things from our end in combination with something else though. Because if we do this trade, I'm not sure what we would trade Mo Williams for. I guess we could still figure something out though.

That's border line already though. I definitely wouldn't swap out Shawne Williams for Stephen Graham.
