TI - Wiz

Post#1 » by eagle13 » Sat Jul 12, 2008 5:02 pm

Checker accepted

Gadz, Dez for Etan & Songalia

Dez' expiring most valuable piece in this deal. Maybe too valuable to waste in this deal?

Gadz has 1 more year than Etan and same years but < $ than DS.

Etan repeatedly fought w/ Haywood. He's healthy this year.

Not great but maybe OK. We get a couple almost nothing bangers for almost nothing.

Bleh. That's just trading crap for crap. IMO, i don't think it makes us any better.

I would much rather have Etan Thomas over Gadz even considering his surgery.

If they use Mason's expiring contract in a trade I'm fine with that. If they use it in this trade I'm seriously pissed off.

This is a pretty lateral move. Etan Thomas isn't gonna blow anybody's socks off, but adding him and Songalia would shore up our frontcourt depth while also getting rid of Gadz and his contract. Unfortunately Songalia's contract isn't that small and runs just as long as Gadz'. If his deal expired along with Thomas' I'd like this trade but currently I'd rather take our chances that something better comes along.

What kind of value do you guys think we're actually gonna get for Mason's contract? Apparently I'm not valuing it as much as some people.

Why?

Granted Thomas is not a great player, but if healthy he is athletic, defends, blocks a few shots and is tough. Much like Skinner fit a niche for us, I think Thomas does as well and if we are losing Gadz' contract I am all for that.
