PG:

1. Billups
2. Hinrich/Rose combo
3. Ford
4. Williams
5. West

SG:

1. Hamilton
2. Redd
3. Dunleavy
4. Hughes
5. Gibson

SF:

1. James
2. Jefferson
3. Granger
4. Prince
5. Deng

SF position after LeBron is pretty close, but that is how I'd rank them.

PF:

Too close to really rank, a very deficient position with weaknesses abound across the board. McDyess is the most sure thing, but is getting up there and has no potential. I'd say CV has the most offensive potential of the PF's, Tyrus Thomas the most defensive potential. Troy Murphy is absolute and complete junk.

C:

1. Bogut
2. R. Wallace
3. Illgauskas
4. Foster
5. Noah

Bogut is the best center in the division. Sheed and Big Z are very close, but Sheed is a better overall defender so he gets the nod.

Hamilton is a far superior defender to Redd and has been absolutely clutch in the playoffs. How is he not better than Redd, just because he doesn't average more points?

Rip is NOT better than Redd. Every time those two matchup, Redd wins the battle. Rips defense is way overrated. Is it better than Redd's? Yes, but not enought to overcome the offensive skill Redd has. Redd blows up against Rip, I'm willing to bet he averages over 25ppg against Rip alone.

Guess I was off a bit. He's averaged 19, 23, and 30 ppg over the last 3 years against DET.

You're not honestly using a 4 game sample as evidence are you?

Redd is a better pure scorer, but Rip scores more efficiently, is a better passer, and a better defender. I'm not saying it's light years in Rip's favor, but he is the better player.

i think of it this way,

if you go by pure skill level, it's reasonably close.

if you go by who you'd rather have on your team, with or without factoring in contracts, it's not close

If Hughes is starting for us, all hell will break lose. He's the worst of the 4 guards on our team.

What are the Bulls going to do at SG? They likely aren't signing Gordon and you don't want Hughes starting.

Hinrich? Rose/Hinrich backcourt? I don't know if I see that working, at least not right now.

What is the Bulls starting five anyway? It seems like a very, very weird mix there right now. Small guards, very minimal post scoring.

The only lock is Deng at the 3.

Kirk/Ben/Noc could be moved before the season starts.

If I had to make a quick snapshot guess based on right now, I'd say Hinrich/Hughes/Deng/Gooden/Noah.

That leaves a Rose, Nocioni, Thomas bench. That team still has a lot of defense, but is a poor outside shooting team and doesn't have any reliable post offense.

I think the Bulls need to make some more moves.

Thabo>Hughes

I think there's a good chance Noc is moved to make room for Tyrus and Thabo.

After a decent playoff run, I'm guessing that Maxiell takes the starting C job in an effort to control McDyess's minutes.

The talk about the lack of PF talent in the division is funny, given Chad Ford's chat:

Nate (Madison): Do you see the Bucks making anymore moves? They don't have a TRUE power forward and have about four point guards that can play with Mo Williams, Lue, Sessions, and Charlie Bell.

SportsNation Chad Ford: Virtually everyone in the Central Division has the same issue. The Bulls biggest hole is at the four. Ditto for the Pacers and Bucks. The four isn't the strongest position for the Cavs either. Really only the Pistons with Rasheed Wallace, Antonio McDyess, Jason Maxiell and Amir Johnson have it covered. I think that means they're going to go small with Charlie Villanueva there. Bucks have a lot of offensive weapons, but does anyone on this team play defense?
