Okay, so let's clutch at some straws.

Preliminary final score: USA 116 AUS 85

USA population estimate: 304,933,867
AUS population estimate: 21,399,377

Score per head of population: USA 3.804 AUS 3.972 (this is completely wrong!)

5 players on court * 4 quarters of play

USA= 4(5*3.804) AUS= 4(5*3.972)

Final result: USA 76 AUS 79

Good guys win! Maybe if Lou Dobbs got his way you could reduce your overall population and be in with a chance ;)

Well, we've got 15 times more people than Australia, but not even three times as many Olympic medals (95-38), so I wouldn't go there :)

Australian sports are without a doubt no joke, but the U.S. is possibly hurt more than any country by allocating an extremely high majority of our athletes to team sports. If USA basketball was an individual sport with multiple different disciplines we'd sweep the gold thru bronze in just about every one. Football is our most popular sport and of course it isn't even in the Olympics. Baseball will follow after this year's Olympiad. And yet we still lead the overall medal count (getting dominated in golds however).

I can't work out if you are posting that thinking it is raunchy or not. Americans are oddballs.

"Duhhhhhhhhhh India has a billion people". I've been hearing a lot of that lately, perhaps there are other factors that need to be taken into account? No? Awesome.

I was putting it out there as an interesting fact. Obviously, other things need to be taken into account.

Did you get a load of the pitcher for the Japanese women's softball team! He gave our girls hell.

Like basket and soccer balls are part leather so it'd be blasphemous to kick and slap them around.

the starting center of the team bogut put up 32 against, was the same height as the gold medalist in the mens 200 and 400m races

think about that

So it was about the height mismatch as when Bogut plays Yao?

I saw that Mills pretty much crapped on Paul and Williams...again. Do you think they'd accept an offer involving Damon Jones?

1. no, because all players that play great on losing teams are automatically the property of the bucks

2. i'm not sure you guys caught the fact that i'm joking with constantly bringing up the height of the angolan center. that's hilarious to me
