More CAP Space Offer

Post#1 » by greenway84 » Tue Sep 16, 2008 5:44 pm

Hi Pacers fan here. Dont worry no Tinsley offers today. LOL. Anyways I know your looking to be a big player in the next 2 offseasons. My question is would you be willing to do this:
Gadzuric
1st
--------
Daniels

Who exp after this year. Freeing up a ton of CAP space this offseason and next.
Thanks in adavnce for your info.

I'd do this only if it was a conditional first (lottery protected).

So we could possibly give up the #6 pick for Marquis Daniels? No thanks. Bucks want to unload Gadzuric's deal, but you also need to realize that it expires the same year that RJ and Redd's do, and losing his deal does not allow us to really land any other FA's given that we still have RJ/Redd/Bogut on the books.

That fair. But thanks for your info. Just trying to see whats out there. But I have to say do you really see your team being that low on the totum poll. All the previews I read have you guys pretty high up.
Marquis Daniels
Damon Jones
Charlie Villanueva
Tyronn Lue
Adrian Griffin
Would all be exp which I think could put you into position to get a player like Boozer, or for less Marion.

Luke hit it on the head. We'd all love Gadz off the books but we still wouldn't have cap space until the summer of 2011. So it's not worth giving up a potential high first rounder now.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

If you took Gadz off the books You would have 6,745,000 off next year alone. Add that with all your other exp and you would have 18,614,236 to sign a free agent next summer. That aside this would save MIL almost 13 mil over the course of his contract.

We have absolutely no need for Daniels unless we are trading Redd. In fact, fi we don't trade Redd i bet we'd prefer to have gadzuric as we are really think with big men.

This would be a whole lot more realistic if it we were to be getting Jeff Foster in return instead of Daniels. He'd be a great fit here and I can easily see us resigning him too.

Bucks won't have the cap space. Between Bogut, Redd, Jefferson the Bucks will be on the hook for >$40m (of the top of my head). Add in other contracts (Bell, Alexander, Ridnour) and it's $12.5m. There's $53ish million after expirers and declining CV (which doesn't have to happen). No cap space. You're not getting that losing salary doesn't mean you have to gain cap space.

Getting rid of Gadz doesn't help the Bucks sign anyone for more than the MLE, which would be there anyway, and so we give up a first rounder for nothing.

Except Bogut's contract will kick in next year as well which significantly puts a dent in all those expirings. No way I give up a 1st for Daniels just to get Gadzuric off the books.

Yeah, it's pretty interesting. If we really were looking to be big players in free agency the next two offseasons we certainly wouldn't have traded for RJ and his three year deal while giving up a player on a rookie contract and what would be a large expiring in two years.
